Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

he was good and saved the oil which i just had changed a month ago, but at a different shop.
Leading evidence: 'Replace month ago' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Suspected cause
I would probably give him the benefit of the doubt (once!) on it being an honest mistake - doesn't seem likely a pcar indie would run up your bill for $100 bucks on all the work you had done.

Suggestion
It would be a stretch IMO to assume that the indie was pulling a $100 scam on such a big total repair bill of legit work (possible, but a stretch)

And thanks for not roasting me too bad using a chain for my last oil change (back is broken so even tho i do have all the tools and equipment to do this simplest of simple jobs, back wont allow it).
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

so i picked up my car from the indie that was doing my clutch, flywheel, rms, ims. he was good and saved the oil which i just had changed a month ago, but at a different shop. he also changed up the gear oil, saying it looked like the gear oil had never been changed at 110k km. 100 bucks extra for that gear oil!
now, when i had the oil changed 1 month ago at the other shop (a national chain) they also changed up the gear oil. i told the indie that and he said no the other shop only changed the oil. i showed my indie the receipt (had it on me weird enough) and he didnt know what to say other than it hadnt been changed.
seemed to have developed a relationship with the indie so i went back to the other shop and asked them about it. coincidentally, they video all their work (weird). the manager just got back to me today and he said that he has the tapes showing the tech draining the gear oil then filling it, in addition to doing the oil, although i havent seen them myself.
what would you do? someone is effing with me.
I would want to see the tapes @ the national chain - to many stories of up charges and fake work not to start there. If they have it - talk to the indie but I probably wouldn't be confrontational about it - you just had a lot of work done there and you want him to stand behind that work. I would probably give him the benefit of the doubt (once!) on it being an honest mistake - doesn't seem likely a pcar indie would run up your bill for $100 bucks on all the work you had done.
I would forget about it..... its not worth the hassle. Maybe write a letter to corp. But here is whats going to happen.... they are going to say "no way" and you are going to get all upset and pissed... tell them you will never be back, going to tell all your friends... blah blah blah... make an *** out of your self....
Forget it and never go back. Done, no hassle... no hard feelings, no regrets after you say all kinds of stupid **** there hear everyday.
I would at the very least ask to see the tapes of them changing the oils and go from there. If they can't show you the video, then I would stay away from that place. If they can, then I would stay away from the other place coz someone is lying to you. Hopefully the indy changed the things they said they changed so accept what they say and change your own oils from now on. From now on DIY on whatever you can and only at last resort, use either of them again.
If they have it on tape I'd ask to see it just so I could know for sure. And if they couldn't show it to me I'd request my money back for the gear oil they didn't put in because that **** isn't cheap. After that I'd let it go.
None of this seems to be the indie's fault though.
Why would you even allow a "national chain" type place even touch your Porsche let alone gear oil. Be happy that if they did nothing it only cost you $100 and move on have have done actually tried to do "something" could have ended up costing you much, much more.
Maybe the first shop did change the gear oil, as they claim. The second mechanic's
opinion
was that the oil looked as though it had never been changed. Maybe he was wrong. I'm sure he has seen lots of used and old oil before, but even so, his judgement might have been off. It could be possible that there's no foul play here and that you're chasing shadows! I don't think I'd worry about it.
If someone tells you they have a tape that your wife is cheating. Would you just forget about it and not see it or, would you rather want to know if she really is? I would want to know who is lying here.
Lol awesome!
Thanks for all the comments.
And thanks for not roasting me too bad using a chain for my last oil change (back is broken so even tho i do have all the tools and equipment to do this simplest of simple jobs, back wont allow it).
I already have a call in to check the vid. Just have to know whos bs'ing.
And that was a good point earlier about opinion and such.
Now THIS I would 'let go' as I wouldn't want to know. The car is a differant situation entirely. I WOULD want to know and could handle the outcome either way. Thats just me.
This is one of those things that comes down to the old question, "What do you want?" Unless you plan some confrontation with one or the other over $100, you should just let it go.
If the big chain is lying I can see not going back there, but if they do have video of them doing the work, I dont see how it makes sense to just blacklist the independent. Especially if he did a good job on the extensive work you had done there and the price was fair.
As was said before, it was his opinion that the oil wasnt done. Who knows why that is. Maybe it *was* done, and for some reason got dirtier than it should have sooner than it should have (some other issue maybe?)
So if you see the video tape and it looks good it seems like you *have* to now go back to the indie honestly. Which of course could lead to confrontation, but that cant really be helped. It would be a stretch IMO to assume that the indie was pulling a $100 scam on such a big total repair bill of legit work (possible, but a stretch)
fun fun... I would ask to see the tape and if it shows the work done, just inform the indie what you saw and let him react (maybe he made bad judgement and will reimburse for labor since you used the fluid - correct Porsche fluid now likely). If they refuse to show tape, or tape shows they did not change it... demand a refund form the merchant and if they refuse, simply call your cr. card company and dispute the portion of the charge related to that. if they could not support the charge to you, they will never convince the cr. card company to the contratry I assure you... and you get your money back same day.
I don't let anyone steal my money, food or women... simple principles I live by... good luck!
