iirc the green stuff we used back then was called 'Slik'.

Static balancing takes more skill so it's not generally used by the Quick Fit type outlet.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Snake oil or not: http://www.dynabeads.co.uk/how.php

POST 4Original post

'these are not the beads you'#re looking for young jedi' !!!! :floor:

POST 5Original post

so............every time vehicle stops, lights, traffic etc the beads drop to bottom. How long then before beads constantly rolling around destroy inner tyre. Purpose built tyre you say, just how heavy would that have to be. NEXT.....

POST 6Original post

Hmm :?: About 30 years ago (oh cr*p, is it really?) I used to use some green goo (long forgotten the name of it tho') in my motorbike tyres that did this and also acted as a tyre seal if you ever got a puncture. Seemed to work OK & I used it for 50K miles without any problems, so it may work...

POST 7Original post

Hi I do not know about the theoretical physics on this, but what a load of kak. The green goo was nopt so bad for balancing, but there was similar stuff available that would harden somewhat and really fk things up. I just do not see the bead thing working. On the subject, I was once told that static wheel balancing of done correctly was better than dynamic, and that F1 car wheels were balanced that way. Berni

POST 8Original post

Static balancing often gives more reliable results, particularly on wide wheels where the centre of the wheel is a long way from where the physical attachment to the hub is. Static balancing takes more skill so it's not generally used by the Quick Fit type outlet. My BBS LM wheels won't balance at all dynamically.

POST 9Original post

The green goo you mention is aptly branded Slime Tyre Sealant.

POST 11Original post

At a push I can see a liquid working for this purpose. Mercury, that's it....Mercury, heavy enough to not need vast amount and quick enough to react. So......Hydrogen inflated Mercury filled Runflat tyres that's what I want.

POST 12Original post

NX120. Are you sure it was 'slime' back in the 70s/80s ? 'slime' is still available. iirc the green stuff we used back then was called 'Slik'. T8 ps. What bikes did you have back then? I had an RD350 in '76 and a CB750F in '77.

POST 13Original post

I still think Slime sounds about right. I had a Velocette Thruxton in '76 (SHR 803) which I sold for an almost new Moto Guzzi Le Mans 850 Production Racer in early '78. Sold that in '81 with 50K+ miles on it to a mate who did long distance courier work on it. He sold it with 160K miles on it and it was still going strong :thumb: Where are you now LBW49S? Never trusted Italian cars though :floor: PS Am I sad for being able to remember my number plates? :dont know:

POST 14Original post

I know the difference between static (still) and dynamic (moving) but believed them to have different properties when balancing wheels. ie the static balance took care of one form of vibration and the dynamic balance took care of another form of vibration. Any good links on the subject chaps.
