This is not a probability of success.

So, while we are on the subject of changing Porsches, why are you changing from a 996 to a 993 Adam?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Love the 996 C4S. Probably the prettiest 996..........Other than the Turbo
I've no experience of this progression but my thoughts are that it sounds like a no brainer. So longs as finances permit. You can get some lovely Turbo's now for only 4-5k above C4S prices.
996 C4S = Great sports car
996 Turbo = Super car
Just my 2p

Bermo having just done exactly that all i can say is Wow, the difference in delivery is unbelievable!
Truthfully in 70% you are not really aware of the difference, at least for me with a lot of town driving, but the moment you first open the taps......
hold on tight, it becomes a whole different kettle of fish.
Before i say this i am prepared to be called a nancy, but the acceleration is phenominal, i have found that I rarely if ever use the power in first as it rips through the gear so quickly i have invariable struggled to keep up with the change!
second gear on it is like a train!
also having come from a very well speced C4S i dont know why but the whole car feels of a slightly higher quality!
If you can afford it do it, but be preparred for the running costs to creep up, cnsumption is a littel lower and servicing etc is that bit more too.
All said 2 mths into the change and no regrets, though winter tyres are a must i think.
as a PS the C4s had PSE which is fabulous and the Turbo is somewhat lacking in the aural stimulation department, truthfully I am not sure i could compe with the senesory overload if it sounded as good as it goes, at least not quite yet!!
@ adamw I think I know where your coming from now. Good luck. Part of the fun is tracking a good one down.
There was a comment about the depreciation of 996's in that thread. I've had my eye on a Turbo at the same price I bought my C2 for, albeit 3 yrs ago. . . mmm, do I? don't I trade mine in for it ? . . . :?:
pics will follow don't worry
, as for the price when new, staggering how much value expensive cars loose in the first 5-6 years , a mate is selling a bentley , 115k new , 5 years later it's going for 55k
imho you would have to be mad to buy new !! i know percentage wise it might be the same depreciation for a focus or astra but still...................
