Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I think endust electrical cleaner will clean dirt off.
Leading evidence: 'Clean dirt off' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean dirt off' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. I'm sure Porshe chose the way they did for simplicity sake, even if it meant having 2 unsightly tranny cable lines running atop the engine...

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I will put it back together tomorrow. My friend has this finish on his
audi
, it has lasted for 6 months now. We will see if it stands the test of time. It is made for engines and valve covers. Little bit of overspray here and there in the engine bay, nothing that cant be taken care of. I took out the passengers side intake manifold, the fuel rail was giving me problems. I decided to leave them in and seal it up. Dealers wanted anywhere from $600-800 to remove and reinstall.
porsches4ed, great job! I was thinkin of doin the same. Just a suggestion, paint the porsche lettering as well. That should look awesome.
Now you got me wonderin what color I should do mine in?
Good job!
AKA WANI yes my wife suggested painting the letters white. I am going a little more expensive route and getting aluminum letters milled/cnc'd and snap them in. They will be a little thicker so it will stick up about 2mm. That is being worked on this week. Oh yes and... it wont be hidden...
... stay tuned and you will see.
Thanks, it wont be covered
That looks really good. I can't wait to see the finished product.
I was wondering if I was the only one with the heat shield rubbing the hoses, but I guess not.
Monday I will have the price for the letters.
pain to clean, yes. I think endust electrical cleaner will clean dirt off. Its not good to wipe it down, dirt gets stuck in the surface
Wow! This has potential to look very nice! You will not only need a clear cover, but some sort of surround/bezel so the transition to the clear cover to the car looks factory.
The milled letters are an excellent idea, btw. Is is possible for you to reroute those two hoses under the manifold or extend them and go around the side?
I was thinkin the same thing about the bezel. Maybe a carbon fiber frame would be easy to do?
Also, those hoses, like RichP suggests, can they go around?
It looks awesome.
I've got your engine pics as my current screensaver.
Those aren't hoses, that's the transmission linkage so if he puts it under the manifold (where it would actually fit) then the engine couldn't be dropped down for any type of service without removing the manifold and free'ing those lines first. The solution would be to reverse the Cayman's engine and have the tranny forward into the passenger compartment tunnel and literally the shifter could go right into the tranny. This would also be better for weight centralization and Porsche could use the same oil pump setup as it does in other engines and avoid the belching of oil on the track. Belt service though ould be at the rear then instead of the front and some other items would have to be relocated a bit, but it would be do-able with a bigger tranny tunnel in the engine compartment, of course then you have to figure out how to route the power back to the rear wheels but it would make a 4 wheel option possible. I'm sure Porshe chose the way they did for simplicity sake, even if it meant having 2 unsightly tranny cable lines running atop the engine...
Stuff to ponder anyway...
nice work. I know your working on a cover but how noisy is it without one?
love being able to see the engine, looking forward to seeing the completed project. pity about the tranny lines, perhaps one could cover them with braided stainless or make a carbon "runner" trim cover (open on the back) to
cap
them off.
consolidated, I agree with the covering of the tranny lines. Not sure, but don't those lines have to flex or be "free"?
I haven't touched a car engine in like 15 years, so I'm not sure.
It would have been done last week but my car is at Le Petit LeMans at Road Atlanta, GA I am in MD. The car is going to the APR facility for a photoshoot/video this week. I will have the car back in a few weeks.
