I was told, and I don't know if it is true or not, that it is because Porsche makes up 1 extra set for each car sold that way and they don't make a bunch of extras to sell.

I am interested in updating my standard sand beige interior by upgrading the rear center console storage lid with one with leather that has the cayman badging or crest imprinted in the lid. The dealer stated that I could only order this with a VIN # of a car that already had that lid. Was this option available on the cayman? Would anyone that has this in the Sand Beige color be willing to PM me their Vin # so I can order a lid for my car? I do not know if it matters, but my car is a 2007. Thanks in advance.

Ah the dreaded won't let you have that option from Porsche unless the VIN# matches. Speaking of which, anyone have a VIN# for a car with complete yellow stitching?

Is this for real or are people joking around ? Why would they care - if you spec that option on a new car, I think you get one or two other things in leather ( correct me if I am wrong ), so I just can't see why they just don't sell the lid at what ever price they think is correct ( ie. they make their 20%+ profit on ) and be done with it ;-)

No this is sadly correct, I'd like to have door panels, etc. with yellow stitching but I can't buy them unless my VIN# had them. Whatever their reasons it is true that you can't get them over the counter.

It would be only a matter of time before you came across the interior style/ color combination that you seek. ( yellow stitching may be longer search.)
