Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

this is an interesting one. a 76 930 that has been 959'd (ish). Current owner has been methodically turning it back to stock, but run out of  funds and needs to sell. confirmed 76 turbo engine, but owner thinks its none matching - looking more into this as often numbers didn't match rear guards replaced with originals from Germany 76 datestamped fuchs sourced whale tail sourced engine rebuilt - not yet run prepped and ready for paint what to do....

POST 2Original post

You need a project Tom. That house thingy you're doing will be a snak. ?

POST 3Original post

Another one of those silly LHD thingys, right up your alley Buy it

POST 4Original post

The rest of us get our hands dirty, man up :<)

POST 5Original post

What's your guess ? $80-$100k in work and parts to finish, plus import and GST? I assume all the interior is gone, full electrics, hydraulics, brakes etc needed? art the right price it would be a nice project

POST 6Original post

Quotes source post: 219918

Lend him the money to finish off the project. 10-15% PA. Take a PMSI over the vehicle.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 219944

I am waiting on a full list of what is missing and a quote to finish it off. He has most things and To finish paint is already quoted at $10k. Buy price is good so GST wouldn't be a worry and wouldn't attract LCT

POST 12Original post

Quotes source post: 220006

Depends if they are saying to run away or towards.... for the right $$$.....

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 220004

(LCT) Surely it would post resto

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 220012

LCT calculated on what you bought it for (or what you get the seller to put on the bill of sale) Still a dodgy LHD import so basically worthless anyway

POST 16Original post

I Still would love to see someone save her ............

POST 17Original post

One assumes it's in the US somewhere? Need another black left hooker for canyon carving and luftgekult shows? ?

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 220049

'need' - this word has no meaning on this site

POST 19Original post

Hang on ... weren't we only bandying the said same word about earlier today ... I thought desire more apt. With LCT so I'm. clear , only levied on base purchase price , not total cost,  post 'improvements ' hmmm

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 220049

looks like it is in Baghdad. buy - where are you going to find another one? If it's a little far gone mild 76 hotrod- a few outlaw touches

POST 21Original post

Just do it You know you want to You know you're going to

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 220059

only levied on what is says on the purchase document. I only buy dodgy LHD cars of course and have completed my Symsy home schooled course in being the perfect negotiator but imports to date include a homeless guys 930 for $120k and a minty 912 for $30k. Mind you the 912 will be non-matching numbers soon so I might have to revisit the paperwork ?

POST 23Original post

Quotes source post: 220059

LCT only kicks in if its over $69,094.00.  Also, be careful - if you get work done on it before you bring it in that means the buy price is say 40K and you spend another 160, you'll cop LCT on the $130,006.00. I've advised a couple of clients who've been caught by this. The ATO web site is helpful.

POST 24Original post

As the ATO also like to help themselves to handfuls of short n curlies

POST 26Original post

Tom, JFDI. Worst comes to the worst you can punt it off in the US. Happy to send you the details of our friend in Monterey who may be able to store / paint / build it if required. I'll even drive it to the next Luft for you alongside the 912 ?

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 220196

Would be interested to know what you lot would pay for the above. More info on finishing: 1. $15k to finish paint 2. $30k to assemble still waiting on missing parts list update on 912 project on build thread finally

POST 28Original post

Quotes source post: 220216

$30k to assemble? Jeeez, I want their hourly rate! When all the bits are there and ready to go, it shouldn't take longer than 2 full weeks for an experienced shop to build a car mate. $100/hr @ 80 to 100 hours or ya getting stiffed

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 220224

they recon 250hrs. Maybe includes engine rebuild?

POST 30Original post

Quotes source post: 220226

It would want to include that mate, as $30k is a shedload of cash just to bolt a car back together

POST 31Original post

That wont include engine rebuild. His workshop probably follow him on insta

POST 32Original post

Quotes source post: 220216

No more than $20-30k, depending on what's missing. You could end up chasing a pile of hard to find bits if it's not been stored properly.

POST 33Original post

Also 15k to finish paint? That seems crazy to me also. I have a painter mate that does show/concourse quality paint jobs on old Mustangs and they are just scratching 10k. He goes to town on them and they are perfect in every way.

POST 36Original post

Quotes source post: 220288

agree. hell from the photos it looks good enough to finish off in my shed.

POST 37 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Decided to pass, but for anyone that wants to finish it off in their shed the car as it stands is going for $50kUS It is a non matching car, but the previous owner sourced an original 76 engine (I have the numbers). engine has been completely rebuilt, just not full essembled and run in yet. there is a list of missing parts but current shop in Chicago reckons they can source everything needed. Costs to get a completely finished car: purchase $50kUS parts $10-$15k finish paint $15k labour $30k - this would include finishing off the engine, rebuilding gearbox/clutch, installing new wiring loom, install interior windows, rubbers etc. essentially finish of the car. All up $110kUS ($145k OZ) with the original purchase price of $50kUS you could escape LCT but would be up for shipping, insurance , gst and compliance. All up you might be about to land this car finished in OZ and drivable for around $180kOZ

POST 38Original post

I've been following the bloke's for sale posts. I'm sooooooooooooo keen for an early 930. This also has the added benefit of starting life as a 959 replica, which everyone knows, I have a soft spot for! Did you check the numbers with your Porsche guy? Confirmed non-matching? Any chance you can PM me the numbers?

POST 39Original post

$180k is a fair chunk of money but would be nice to see it saved and go to a good home ,,,was the car originally black or another color ...just asking as I know that the early Turbo,s came is some very unique colors that you don,t see that often ..

chassis - 9306700661 engine - 6760063 as far as i know black list of parts/work that is included: front and rear ball joints small hardware wheel bearings and seals front and rear brake rotors parking brake shoes brake hoses caliper rebuild kits 12 rockers arms clutch kit warm up regulator cold start valve tp rebuild alternator rebuild starter full hiring harness all window gaskets transmission rebuild couple of grand allowed for miscellaneous parts Michael recons he knows of a few around OZ, but $180k all done and sorted. Matching numbers aside I am not sure it you could get a much better deal
