I am starting to see used GTS models under 10k miles in the low 70's, high 60's even.

I cannot hear it due to it farting on every change :-( ruins the car which is a shame.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I found a pretty good deal locally: well equipped "warranty punched" new S 2015 model, 6MT, Sport Chrono. But it has the base suspension. I am starting to see used GTS models under 10k miles in the low 70's, high 60's even. The new CS will be $59,500 out the door. questions: 1) will depreciation be pretty similar on both cars or are we looking at a steeper curve on a new (discounted by $20k) S vs a GTS? Say I drive each 6k miles a year, for 5 years: both cars likely worth around $30-35K at that point? 2) handling: I have driven an S, it was fabulous. Never been in a GTS 981 (have driven a 997 GTS). How will they compare? The GTS I would get probably is equipped with X73 and PTV. I may track the car once a year, for fun, but this will be a weekend and fun car. Also considering a 991, as I have 2 kids, but I just figured if I get the Cayman, it will be a 3rd car, probably keep my old pickup as the 2nd car, as it has 4 seats.

POST 2Original post

as an owner of a CGTS, and having driven a couple of CSs, the biggest differences are the noise, suspension and the interior, which can all be optioned to a CS. A CGTS will inevitably hold their value a little better than a CS, but by how much of a margin, no one can know at this stage. TBH, if you can find a well specced CS that had PASM, PSE and Sports Chrono, which had already seen a depreciation hit, then go for that! it would have been a different story if you were comparing them new. Thats just my 2 cents...

POST 3Original post

You could get the S and add X73 suspension? I would want something more than stock suspension. The rest, options etc, are all personal preference.

POST 4Original post

I've moved from a heavily specced S to a GTS recently. Although the spec of the cars was essentially the same they feel different beasts. The GTS is just incrementally better on every level in my opinion.

POST 5Original post

Although options on the S, I think you will have difficulty in finding an S with X73 and PTV, if that is important to you. I personally wanted PASM and PTV but couldn't find one with both and had to settle for just PASM (which I like). I think it may well come down to what options that are standard on the GTS which are important to you. As it happens I actually wouldn't want 20" wheels, PSE or the reduction in ground clearance that goes with the GTS - but I'm pretty sure that is a minority view. POST 6Original post

better to find a cheaper car not on PASM and use that to get it cheaper and then fit x73 ;-)

Sure the engine is different, but I can't understand if you spec an S with the same suspension, wheels and tyres, and Chronosport for the engine mounts, how it would steer and handle any differently. The geo settings are the same as far as I am aware.

POST 9Original post

it would not you could spec the S with x73 and have a GTS without and then the GTS would be not the better buy. GTS is just free parts and 10bhp nothing which cannot be speced on the S

POST 10Original post

The PSE is 'tweaked' on the GTS. Other than that, I'm pretty sure the rest is the same (suspension, PSM etc). PSE tweaks are mentioned here: http://www.autoevolution.com/reviews/porsche-cayma...

PSE tweaks are mentioned here: http://www.autoevolution.com/reviews/porsche-cayma... the PSE fake over run is the worse bit about a GTS, it's painfull to even have to put up with the over run !!! ok for a day, but to live with quite nasty imo. it sounds horrid, but again each to their own https://youtu.be/y1LhUzL3qdU

POST 12Original post

It's awesome, I love it. Reading around, it seems the GTS also has a third radiator and larger brake ducts too?

POST 13Original post

I couldn't agree more Twinfan. It's making a 50 year old man feel like he's a 5 year old boy again. The GTS exhaust is fabulous and topped only by the glorious howl of the Flat 6 at max chat.

POST 14Original post

I guess at 50 you go a bit deaf ! Fake over run at this level is painfull !!! fit for a Saxo ! in fact not fit on anything imo

POST 15Original post

Or you appreciate things that make you smile. Everyone to their own

POST 16Original post

And if you think it sounds like a Saxo I suggest it's not only the old that go deaf.
