Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that contain suggestions

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
As the remote uses a rolling code (new code every lock cycle) if the remote sender has been activated more than 256 times and less than 1024 times with the receiver out of range or while the vehicle battery is disconnected the unit must be resynchronized as follows:
Leading evidence: 'Disconnect unit must be resynchronized as follows' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect unit must be resynchronized as follows' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

after 5 days the remote wont work until you re-lock the car by turning the key anti clockwise in the door lock then use the remote to open or open with the key an turn on the ignition within a few seconds to stop the alarm going off
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

it would not open on the pip so key in door lock to open manually and all hell broke loose. Both alarms went off but the pip decided to work again and saved me from a lynching by the neighbours.
I hate this sort of thing in modern cars and really don't want it to happen again. Does anybody know how to disarm the noise.
Thanks for any advice.

by the way its caught us all out :damn:
my key gave up at the far end of a journey the other day and its only been about a month since i changed the battery and opened the car fine at the start of the journey,
is the fob faulty?
i have tried all the above and inserting battery backwards, and puting in ignition then takeing out and pressing within 6 seconds
is it time to call a OPC?
is the LED lighting up when you pres the button ? there have been a few posts on here on about the side contact in the fob being loose and not touching the side of the battery try that first
Rob
yep i checked that too and bent them out a little to make sure and i get a flashing light as normal,
my spare key doesnt work either all of a sudden
when i bought the car the garage had to get them reprogrammed before i collected it as it had happened before
my guess is the alarm system has "spiked" or similar in the very cold weather on startup and forgot the keys because i got into the car and there was for the first time ever a missed start like the battery was almost flat on the car
it started second time but after that neither keys have worked when both were working a few days before
thanks for the advise though
try this
RESET PROCEDURE
Reset by manually unlocking the car door and whilst the key is still in the door, press the button, lock/unlock button. This re-syncs the electronics if it is time that has caused the car to forget the remote.
As the remote uses a rolling code (new code every lock cycle) if the remote sender has been activated more than 256 times and less than 1024 times with the receiver out of range or while the vehicle battery is disconnected the unit must be resynchronized as follows:
- Switch on the ignition (ignition key must have the correct transponder).
- Switch off the ignition.
- Remove the key and press the remote sender button within 6 seconds after the ignition key has been removed
The activation counter will then be reset to zero.
If the fault lies with the remote, you can reset the remote fob's chip by inserting the button battery in reverse (wrong way round) for a couple of seconds. (ie -+, +-)
If none of those work, you probably need a new remote!
