Hi everyone,
looking to add some body kits ( rear spoiler, side skirts ect.)to my 987 S by speedart or techart and was wondering how they might effect the trade in value of my car to a porsche dealer later.
your thoughts are appreciated.

Personally I would never buy a modified used car, but also haven't bought a used car in 30 years. I like to order what I want.
Unfortunately, most after-market mods add zero to the price future buyers are willing to pay for your car.
Agreed. If you are lucky, the modifications will help you sell the car and not DECREASE the value of your car. They rarely add value.
Of course, if you keep the stock parts and return the car to stock later, you can resell the mods and recoup some $.
Having been around this make since my first Porsche in 1965 I can feel safe in telling you that most people run away from extremely modified Porsches. It screams abuse even if it isn't true. And there are too many examples of poorly done modifications to prove them correct. Of course you might get lucky and find someone who wants the exact modifications you have added and trusts you enough to understand how the car has been taken care of but even then you don't get anything back on the mods.
I have worked off and on at the largest classic car dealer in San Diego; mostly muscle cars and older classics but a few Porsches over the years. A crisp stock example will sell readily while body-modded cars sit around, become shop-worn, and may finally sell to a non-porsche type for a reduced price. My guess would be that a Porsche dealer would not even want such cars on his lot. However the kits we are seeing here, for the most part, are better designs than much of what has been hung on 911's in the past. (All the slant noses and wide bodies seem to get damaged and never or poorly repaired) So there might be some hope for a well-done Cayman but still not sure a dealer would give a decent trade-in allowance.
As probably the most modified Cayman here, I modify for 2 reasons. 1) Myself and 2) Testing items for this site. Resale/Residual value never enters into my thought process, and I save all my original parts should I wish to undo something I've done.
I concur with the statements of others other than to say I've never had a problem selling a modified car in the past as long as the mods were tasteful, well done, and didn't harm the car in any permanent way.
