Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I replaced the stock rims with Vector Innsbrucks (in matte black) and the blinkers with clear.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I had been watching the classifieds for months waiting for a cheap set of hollow spoke turbo twists to show up. Finally a set came up and while I paid a little bit more than I wanted, they were still very cheap. They were a bit scratched up but since I was going to paint them it mattered not.
I used VHT black and satin clear coat and didn't sand between coats at all. It was pretty much a rush job. My plan was to sand them and put some final touches on them after they were mounted. I knew that the tire guys would likely scratch them up (and they did).
I'll probably do some light sanding and put a few smooth final coats on this weekend. Thinking about doing something with the 4S on the center caps too.
Also plan to get a black carerra 4 and red S for the rear badge and a blacked out front emblem. Kind of going for the monochrome look with a little red here and there
Sorry for the crappy pics, I was in a hurry this morning.
Looking good bro! I went the flat black krylon DIY first time around.... But, I just got mine back from my friends shop. I chose gloss black this time.
Changes the whole attitude of the car. All business now... Coilovers next?
Wow those look awesome!
Yep some good adjustable coilovers would be the next thing on the list. However those will probably have to wait a while. Tires, brakes, and seat time are taking up most of my "car money" right now.
I hear ya... this has become a very expensive ownership experience. I waited 2 years before finding the right deal on coilovers. I finally found a new set of H&Rs for $1500 on ebay.
Yes, I think they are great but im only comparing them to 10 yr. old OEM Shocks. Car is lowered significantly and has a track alignment of -2.8 camber front / -2.3 rear and corner balance. The shocks are definitely stiffer but still streetable. Had a track event this weekend but we had rain all day due to tropical storm. Havnt been on a dry circuit yet.
Hey dot the wheels look good. I have always liked the red S on the end of the black carerra 4. I say do it. i might paint the inside of the 4S on the center caps red also. Or maybe the 4 white and the S red.
Obviously they are 18's, reading the tire size, but what are the widths and offset? Curious 'cuz I have a set of black 18's and I am just about to pull the trigger on a 996.
Awhile ago somebody posted and said black wheels look better on darker cars... I think those PICs prove them wrong. Beauty is in the proverbial eye, but that car looks sweet. (and I typically do not like the twist style)!
As for the red accents, my son wanted me to do that but I didn't because I don't have red calipers. I think that on your car (with red calipers), red logos would look awesome. Hell, you are making me consider a silver hood ornament!
I've got an '03 996 NB I am in the middle of refurbishing and updating. It is all black. I replaced the stock rims with Vector Innsbrucks (in matte black) and the blinkers with clear. Trying to score a turbo bumper cover and then will send off to Jake R. for engine work.
I really think the 996 is coming into its own as a nice little GT.
Take it easy and thanks for sharing the post.
