Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

45 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was breezing through the weekly specials at Suncoast and spotted this new (to me anyway) key head. Looks similar to the CGT that some folks converted to last year. Anyone interested in a group buy? bob

POST 3Original post

I think I'm in, looks great. An upgrade you touch every day.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The price is $129 without talking to them about a group buy price. I will call tomorrow to see what Suncoast will do if we have enough interest

POST 5Original post

Very similar to the CGT keyfob. I guess they saw the demand for the CGT keyfob and figured it made sense to make a 911 version.

POST 6Original post

i think i want it! damn will the modding never end? hahah

POST 7Original post

Will this work for a 99' 996 key? If it does , Im in -Matt

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

more info from website Looks like it will NOT fiit a 99 (see below) group pricing if available, later today As an alternative to the standard keyhead, a "Design" key housing is now available. By simply transferring your old key blade, circuit board, and transponder chip, you can upgrade to this new design. No reprogramming is necessary, it is a direct swap of the internal parts. The Design key is only available for keys with two-buttons (central locking system and front trunk lid), and features a flashing "911" in red. This will fit a 2001-2004.5 Carrera 996 (except Targa).

POST 10Original post

This one look similar to the GT head. There is a good thread on Rennlist that is 100 pages long about the group buy and how to swap the guts out with your old key head. So you actually just swap the inside parts. 99-00 the trunk button will not work of course but the unlock button does. I would be interested in a Group Buy.

POST 11Original post

exactly you can swap it but you don't have any function for the other buttons.

POST 12Original post

I'm in as well. It'd be cool if they have it in CF material.

POST 13Original post

I'm in. Would be also cool if they had it available in a silver crest. But doubt it.

POST 16Original post

Can I have it for the Cayenne? LOL mine is too big

POST 20Original post

placed a call and 2 e-mails today. Will try again on tuesday

POST 21Original post

It depends on the price but, I'm interested. Thanks. b-man

POST 22Original post

if the hood trunk button still works, I'm in. . . Larry (CA996) where you at?

POST 23Original post

Quote: CA996 is out due to over-spending on the wheel.

POST 24Original post

let me get this straight -- $125 for a new plastic cover for the existing key fob? if so, i'm in the wrong business...

POST 25Original post

Ok, here is the ordering information for the group buy from Suncoast. They are currently out but they are requesting a priority shipment from Germany since so many folks want in. They will be here in about 7 days. Regular price $129.95 Group price $119 plus shipping to your location To ORDER, go to the Suncoast website http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc? GO to the SEARCH function on the top Type in 6speed -all one word A page for us with the $119 price will be there later today (tuesday) Do NOT use the regular weekly special page with the $129 price

POST 27Original post

I bought one as well, including the battery maintenance. Thanks for the hookup.

POST 28Original post

What is the Porsche part number for this key head?

POST 29Original post

just ordered one, so do we need to re-program it?

POST 30Original post

by the way, all the button function works on 01 TT?

POST 31Original post

according to the website, you are just exchanging the guts from your present key to the new shell. This is just like the folks who did this with the CGT key shell, only now it's a shell for 911's So both buttons (locking/alarm and front trunk) work No need to re-program The suncoast website has the info

POST 33Original post

Morning, I am very glad to see the 3 page thread about our group buy. We are still accepting orders. If you have not yet secured the purchase? You can do so by going to www.E-partsSALES.com, follow the search link and type in "6speed" in the area. This will take you to the Group buy, key fob page. This can be purchased right from this page. The key fob can also be purchased via the phone at [phone removed]. I realize some have already called. A couple have gotten through, and others didn't. Our phone activity has grown ten-fold over the last couple weeks. I appologize for those calls we might have missed. However, Ric & myself can be reached directly at [email removed] or [email removed] . If there is anything else I can be assistance of, please do not hesitate to let me know. We are currently securing larger quantities of goods. Primarily for group buys. Let us know what else would interest the community. Possibly ROW kits??? Thanks Noel

POST 36Original post

To all, the group buy was posted on Rennlist but pulled because of site rules. There were 8-10 folks who wanted in but may have missed the directions. if you know anyone over there, let them know of suncoast's offer as always, no affiliation... bob

POST 37Original post

I got mine couple months ago...it helps you to get in the mood for the real thing later!

POST 38Original post

i am confused will this work for a '99 with onl one button i realize the the other buttons on the new shell wont work but the isngle lock button will..... correct? if so, i am in

POST 39Original post

is it easy to swap out the old one? does it come with instructions? if so...IN.

POST 40Original post

Q1. Work on a 1999? I do not think it will work with a '99, at least according to the Suncoast website. I suggest calling ric at Suncoast directly Q2: How easy it is? Very easy. Step 1. Pry open the existing key using a flat plade. I used a small srewdriver. Step 2 lift out the circuit board/battery combo Step 3. To remove the key blade, use the same screwdriver to lift a small tab on the right side of the plastic shell. There is a small spring. the spring might pop out but just lift the tab. The key blade will pull out of the shell easily Step 4. Remove the tiny microchip on the left side of the shell. It's about 3/8" long and the diameter of the tip of a ballpoint pen. It just lifts out of it's cradle. This is the chip that lets the car start. Do not forget this step; the car won't start w/o the chip in the key! Step 5. Assembly: insert key blade; it will lock in place place chip in cradle on left side of shell (maybe use something tacky to hold it in place...) place circuit board in position & click both sides of the shell together Enjoy the new key; both buttons work as before no more than 5 minutes once you get the idea of interior layout of the shell Hope this helps

POST 41Original post

POST 45Original post
