Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Once done its not like a turbo, power comes in later as its only running 6psi but christ it was quick.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm just wondering what sort of views or experiences might be out there on the question of extracting more power from my 996. The only real option I can see that would give a significant and worthwhile increase would be one of these supercharger kits I see advertised. Is it a road to ruin or have some of you taken this path with very positive results and no detriment to reliability, servicing issues etc.

What he said! :thumb:
For the money, you'd probably be better off selling and getting a turbo if you want more power - much less hassle, probably similar cost and you will be able to move it on much easier when the time comes, I expect...
supercharging
Hi
I did it.
Evoms kit with vortec supercharger. 440 bhp. It was a ***** to fit, and an even bigger ***** to get right. The motor is fine with it the weakness, in the 996 motor is not complicated by supercharging, you could argue that the pistons are the wrong shape, forced induction pistons are usualy slightly tapered. Apart from that supercharging like turbocharging works with torque multiplication not increased rpm, from a stress point of view its ok but did completly rebuild the motor with all sorts of bits. More important is getting the fueling right. you will need a good rolling road expert, who can alter the original map. A bigger set of injectors and a turbo fuel pump is a must. And dont believe what you see on the ads it WILL not work out of the box. Once done its not like a turbo, power comes in later as its only running 6psi but christ it was quick. Funniest thing was blowing other people away in it especialy 997 "S" drivers ...pictures to follow. Sold it for a turbo funny enough , but wish i still owned it it was a real toy.
Still have all the install manuals and lots of advise if you proceed. Regal autosport in southamton are the guys for the rolling road work.

Thanks for the great post Valdice.
A lot of people say to me that it would be better to upgrade to a turbo but having looked at trading up, I would generally have to fork out an extra 30,000 euros here in Ireland. Or over a five year loan about €630 a month ever single month. It's a lot extra for the performance boost.
So if I could get a significant additional performance just for the sheer fun of it for about €10K I'd be interested.
The other thing is, I like the svelte simple shape of the 996 Carrera, and the basic real wheel drive set up. Plus, there's always an appeal to having something unique, personalised, bespoke in a way.

car for sale
Yes you probably did.
I sold it to someone who as I understand it his wife made him sell it on after a short while. As I said when I sold it I brought a Turbo, but wish I had kept that one it was more fun in the sense of the word. :dont know: :dont know:
