Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I installed the RS60 exhaust tip almost a year ago. This is the same tip that is on the Gen 2 Cayman S models. So here is my problem. No matter how much I crank down on the two bolts securing the tips to the mufflers, the tips move after a few weeks of driving. I position the tips so that they are about 1 finger width below the bumper, and eventually they move to where they are about 3 or more finger widths below. The tips look silly and out of place now. I have repositioned and tightened the bolts several times now since I installed the tips, and the same problem occurs. For those with a gen 2 CS or RS60 exhaust tips, does this problem happen to you? Also, does anyone know what the torque specs are for these bolts? Any other advice is appreciated. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

Set the the tips on the muffler pipe stubs with a pair of 3/4" #10 self tapping hex head sheet metal screws on each side from underneath. The appropriate starter holes of about 1/16" will need to be drilled first before installing the screws. The screws will seal the starter holes nicely and will prevent the tips from rotating out of alignment. Star washers should also be used to insure that the screws don't loosen later. Another solution is to spot weld the joints but that would make exhaust or tip removal later somewhat difficult.
