Since my 01, with 36K miles, still has the original IMS and RMS bearings, I can see that this Oil Analysis is going to be a standard practice in my oil changes from this point forward.

BRENT: Although you haven't had the IMS bearing replaced, we're still not seeing any indication that it'll be trouble down the road.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, got mine back today...here is what they said: BRENT: Although you haven't had the IMS bearing replaced, we're still not seeing any indication that it'll be trouble down the road. Your wear metals look fantastic, especially since you had two track days and four autocross events on this fill. Steady wear like this is a good indication that your engine's internal parts are wearing properly. Last time, the only mark was the viscosity, but it read in the proper range for a 15W/40 this time. There wasn't any dirt, fuel, antifreeze, or moisture to speak of and the low insolubles show more than adequate oil filtration. Looks good from here!

Mobil 1 15w/40

POST 4Original post

Did you just get the standard $25 test or did you pick some of the special categories?

POST 5Original post

That looks like the standard $25 report. I got one too and it had the same stuff on there.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 404283

correct - just $25 report. If they saw something, i'd have them do more analysis if needed...for now, pretty happy. 116k miles on it!

POST 7Original post

Here is an article that discusses how to read and interpret a UOA, and happens to use one of the Blackstone Labs reports as an example. Engine Oil Analysis - Bob is the Oil Guy - Bob is the Oil Guy Steve Edit: it looks like he paid the extra $10 and got the TBN value at the bottom which appears to be the amount of additives left in the oil.

Is this a typo? I am not aware of any Mobil product 15W40. Do you mean 5W40 (turbo diesil) or 15W50? Thanks. Good looking report.

POST 10Original post

Correct - that is a typo. 15w/50 is what I use...
