Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone, Our project is about to start. We have only done a few things since we got the car from QLD like a service and new wheels and tyres. Nothing major Thanks to Coastr we were able to find a good base. Before: Taken by Coastr Now: The plan for the exterior is to keep the 964 look, replace the wing with a ducktail, replace the SC side skirts with 964 side skirts and some new paint. This will all be done by our good friend John from Zag Automotive. Ive been playing around on Photoshop and here is what it will look like. Still unsure which colour to go for. As for the interior we are going to delete the rear seats for a half cage. Its going to be reupholstered in black top to bottom with some alcantara, RS door cards and new front seats. Remove the 12 speakers, 2 amps and the jungle of wires so we can hear that 3.2 rumble. More pictures to come once the ducktail arrives.

POST 3Original post

Quotes source post: 136210

+1 Riviera or Mexico Blue looks sensational. Can I throw a spanner in the works and suggest Rubystone?

POST 5Original post

Stay with yellow, less work and expense, unless that's not an issue. Personally I would keep the RS wing, add turbo flares and Speedline wheels.

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 136223

+1 yellow.  topside only respray to even up the patchwork colours.  Ducky looks good on 964's

POST 9Original post

Where did you get those choice of colours from - are you just playing with contrast/brightness in photoshop? Can I ask what the original colour of the car was?

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 136210, 136220, 136222, 136223, 136224, 136227, 136228

We were going to keep the colour as is ( apparently its a Lamborghini pearlescent colour ) but it wasn't done right and every panel has a different shade. We want the paint work to match the new interior. So we were going to do speed yellow but then thought about all the other colours we could paint. Okay so blue is the colour i chose, preferably riviera blue. Orange is the colour my dad chose, which i think is too loud of a color. And viper green was another colour that just got thrown in.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 136229

We always liked Porsches bright colours. haha no i didnt play with the contrast/brightness on photoshop, all you have to do is go to Image scroll down to Adjustments then click Replace colour. I looked in the smuggles box and the original colour looks like it may have been indiana red

POST 13Original post

if it's a 3.2, duck tail and iroc rear bumper, SC/RS style front?

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 136247

Its a SC with a 3.2 transplant. The iroc bumper plus the rs front is a great look. PFA member Andrewbu has this set up on his 911sc and it looks great in person.

POST 16Original post

I still like yellow RWB that I photoshopped it a bit Too subtle ?

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 136257

HAHAHA... Yeah i wanted to do a RWB inspired project but dad isn't a fan. As for the RS wing that's on the car its a cheap bolt on, unlike the original ones that where part of the deck lid.

POST 19Original post

Quotes source post: 136255

i reckon this would be the way to go, sort of more in keeping with it's IB origins? wouldn't be hard either!

POST 20Original post

I agree with the IROC bumpers. Ditch the 964 look, wing and Cups. IROC and Fuchs all day long. Viper Green for a full re-spray or if you want to just do a sand back and top coat and keep the yellow, then swap to this yellow:

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 136206

Any of those colours look awesome to me ...............this should be a great build looking forward to it .......................

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 136262, 136264, 136272

We have been considering the iroc rear bumper. Not too keen for the rs front in the bright colours. I also thought of restoring it back to original, impact bumpers, fuchs and original colour but my dads had his share of original P-cars and whats to have fun with this one. Thanks Raven, were looking forward to it to. Just need to chose one of these colours

POST 25Original post

Quotes source post: 136275

not the iroc front- i mean more the SC/RS style. runs two fender coolers rather than a big single. more street friendly ground clearance. http://www.eb-motorsport.co.uk/productinfo.asp?id=302

POST 26Original post

Great project. Looking forward to your progress. love yellow, had two. Impossible to match, and non metal parts appear a different shade in some lights. Servo lights especially. The base needs to be a solid dark colour, and loading of the yellow sooooo even. I'd use someone that has experience with yellow. Viper green or blue 2c

POST 27Original post

What a great project, looking forward to seeing the developments...........do like the blue....

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 136279, 136289, 136294

Ohhhh... i thought your were talking about the RS bumper. That looks GREAT Thanks! Thats exactly what John said about the colour yellow, thats why we were looking at our options. Thanks! ill be sure to post any development as soon as it starts.

POST 29Original post

good luck with the project. look forward to seeing it progress. btw, i'm a big fan of the viper green

POST 30Original post

Yeah. Ditch the 964 look. Yellowbird front and rear. Olive green. Black wheels with gloss lips & matte centres. Whale tail. http://www.gettydesign.com/911_bumpers.php OR, whatever this acidic green is, with glod centres & polished lips...

POST 31Original post

Looking forward to seeing progress with this. Some great ideas from everybody so far. What do you and your dad want it to be though?

POST 32Original post

My 2 cents worth. Keep the 964 look but something like this - speed yellow too! Or Cargraphic bumpers/ etc Looking forward to your outcome, goodluck!

POST 33 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 136342, 136343, 136347

Thanks Tit, they are  both great colours love the acidic green. We dont really like the yellow bird front bumper. Thanks Eoghanroe, our plans before the thread were to keep the 964 look, new interior, add the duck tail, side skirts and new paint. But now thanks to everyone were thinking maybe a new front bumper. Thanks ANF, we thought of going with speed yellow but then thought of all the other colour options we had and narrowed it down. There are so many different bumpers to go for. we might just keep the 964 bumpers till we get sick of them lol

POST 34Original post

The Skunkworks 964 is the only reference you need then, no franken Porsche - just tasteful IMO.

POST 35 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 136364

Jeremy's Skunkworks 964 is what we are going for but in a different colour obviously Very tasteful! Spotted his car at the NSW concours.

POST 36Original post

The RS 4 above is owned by a member of this forum and was only finished recently ,,,awesome build by Hamiltons AutoHaus..... http://porscheforum.com.au/profile/1818-jv911/ http://autohaushamilton.com.au/news/behind-the-scenes-the-secret-life-of-the-964-rs-4

POST 37 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 136416

Yes i know, ive followed Jeremy's build tread as well. Great car!

POST 38 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Update: While waiting for the duck tail to arrive we've grown tired of the 964 look on our 911. Our new plan for the body is to get a IROC rear bumper, remove the side skirts, SC/RS style front bumper (recommended by clutch-monkey) and some deep dished 16" fuchs. We might go with the colour riviera blue. What the front bumper will look like: What the rear end will look like: (we are also going to try and have the same exhaust set up as the picture below)

POST 39Original post

Absolutely love it, great decision. Especially on those pipes which are a no brainer in my opinion.

POST 40Original post

Quotes source post: 136271

as I kicked off this project I vote for tweety bird as well! Plus Son and Dad need separate PFA accounts...otherwise we don't know who is saying what! awesome dad, by the way.  Good guidance towards tasteful ideas :)

POST 41Original post

Quotes source post: 138028

Yes I like this set up a lot, although prefer the RS front ( clutchmonky suggested ) , I have been planning to do that to my Carrera Targa and brace it with a half cage like the Emory Targa. Then set up the motor with EFI and ITB's . The ultimate Targa !

POST 42 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 138045, 138052

HAHAHA my dad and i both love yellow cars but since the car is going to get a full respray we thought of all the other colours that were mentioned before. Just so its clear everything this account posts is from me Tarkan (the son!) Anything that i post has already been discussed and agreed on with my father. Yes he is a awesome dad! Thanks Spannerhead. Cant wait to see your progress with the "Ultimate Targa!" sounds like cool project.

POST 43Original post

I've always been a fan of this colour: or maybe a 964 colour 'Raspberry' (83E)? it's a different colour to the colours on RS's (sort of like the colour on my car that's different in different lights) Coastr only got 2 PFA'ers cars in the background but g ood to see that it went to a good home! there was a fair bit of interest in that car

POST 44 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 138131

Thank you for the different colour options. Ive already mentioned the mint and raspberry colours to my dad back when we first started thinking of colours but he didnt really like them . The blue we might go for is on the 993.

POST 45Original post

so now only to choose between turquoise, riviera, marine, or Mexico blue! or 1972 Rose (072)

POST 46Original post

I like the turquoise as it is a colour you do not see a lot of and it just looks awesome on the 964 RS posted Above ......................

POST 47 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

POST 51 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

POST 57 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 140124, 140125

It was always going to get done at Zag.

POST 58Original post

Starting a new trend...backing an update! Predicting/hoping for some impact bumbers

POST 59Original post

Quotes source post: 140133

haha i agree. I think we had the same desire to back date our 964's to an impact bumper. Give me a de-winged Carrera 3.0 anyday!

POST 60Original post

Love the yellow. If you don't mind me asking what did you pay for this car? I am currently negotiating on a similar model car. Thanks

POST 62 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The interior is all stripped out... Turns out the original colour wasn't maroon it was a golden champagne.

POST 64Original post

Quotes source post: 140223

Mine was the same colour inside, unless that is the colour of the primer they used at the factory?

POST 66 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 140503, 140513

Im not sure about the colour of Porsche's primer. When they stripped some of the paint on the fenders they showed me under the yellow paint there was a maroon colour and under that the original colour champagne . No they dont and we aren't complaining.

POST 67 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Update... Half cage and center fuel filler done now for some paint!

POST 69 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

POST 71Original post

Oh yes, Signal Orange & Continental Orange are fantastic colours for a 911. Great choice. You must be very excited.

POST 72Original post

+1 on the colour choice. I'm looking forward to following this thread. A big fan of Zag Porsche projects.

POST 82Original post

POST 85Original post

Quotes source post: 140068

What do you think of the Euromeister wheels?  I'm thinking of getting a pair of 16x8 for my SC.  Are they a good accurate copy of the original?  Where did you buy them from?  Thanks.

POST 86 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 141793

They are nice and look pretty close to the real deal. I had John order them for me he said his supplier is in Melbourne.

POST 87Original post

they are better finished than the rota versions imo. neither are light, but your next option is spending $$ on braids so for street use it's not bad value at all

POST 88 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Another update. Interior is almost done some final touches left. Our original exhaust has been modified and installed. Interior shots

POST 89 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Finally found tyres for the rear wheels.

POST 91Original post

Looks incredible, geez i want a project like this. What seats are they?

POST 92Original post

The lure of the backdate is strong! new lights / rings or did you just cleanup and paint matt black?

POST 93 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 142101, 142104, 142107

Ill get more pictures of the car tomorrow. Thanks! The seats are original electric 964 seats but cut and modified to look retro. They are new black rings but we are waiting for our polished ones to arrive to match the horn grill.

POST 94Original post

Quotes source post: 142108

The black rings look pretty sweet. Would love to see it with black wheels like on Sam's car.

POST 95 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 142101, 142112

Because we have the horn grills polished and the center fuel filler is silver we want the rings to match. The center fuel filler: And the dash all finished: (Much better than the ratty grey interior)
