Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Has anyone experienced or experiencing a rattling from their glove box? It seems like there's a little too much play when my glove box is latched closed and when I go over very consistent washboard type freeway surface (a lot in the Bay Area), I get a rattling/knocking sound coming from the glove box. If I have my wife lift the glove box door the noise goes away. I also can reproduce the sound by hitting on the bottom of the glove box to create that knocking sound. Any quick fixes for this? It seems like more preload on the glove box is needed to avoid having the freeplay which generates the knocking. Obviously I can always take it in to my dealer to have them take care of it but I was wondering if there was something easy for me to address it. Thanks,

Glove box noise Searched the forums but did not find any answers to this question: Has anyone discovered a solution for a glove box that makes annoying clicking noises when the car goes over sharp bumps in the road? Leaving the glove box open resolves the issue (but is impractical for obvious reasons), and I have yet to see how it performs without the weight of the manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Nick

Re: Glove box noise This is new to me as I never experienced this and didn't hear anybody complain about it. I have perfume, the car manual and my sunglasses pack in there. No noise!

POST 4Original post

Re: Glove box noise I have had the cup holders replaced two times for silmilar noises. Try taking out the cupholders and see what happens to the noise. If it goes away it might be the cup holders, and not the glove box. I am not there, so take this in the spirit of trying to help. I have not experienced noise problems with the gloove box. You might also want to see what happens when the glove box is empty vs loaded Noises are a pain to find. Take a ride with the advisor/mechanic and see if you can duplacate the problem, otherwise they might ignore it, and say we could not find anything wrong. Good Luck.

Re: Glove box noise any update to this? have the same problem.

The rattling might come from a lose CD holder. I have one CD holder that pops out on its own when the glove box is closed causing rattling.
