Just checked their site for these Michelin PS2 N3 sizes and it says £308 (+£48 more) for the rears and £168 (£+28 more) for the fronts.

Rema even make a road side repair kit for t/l tyres and it's good so good that BMW bikes use to come fitted with them as standard.

Then there is the correct way to apply the repair starting with cleaning the inner seal off then scrape an area just bigger than the patch then buff off any ribbing.

No tyre manufacture really recommends repairing repairing but that's mainly because they will sell more there are a few old british standards that also say no but euro standards mostly say yes.

Cant see how if it's good and that's the reason for the rema training to make a high standard of repair and you can't see a good repair from the out side .

Just browsing on eBay and there seems to be some great deals to be had......especially if you are willing to accept puncture repaired tyres that have been fixed to certain BS standards.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I'm starting to look for rear tyres for my C4S... ideally I'd like to stick with the Michelin Pilot Sports as the car already has. Any suggestions on the best place to buy? Prices seem to vary dramatically.
I can only give you my personal view. Which is to get the tyres fitted at a reputable place you trust. I've personally had quite a few bad experiences with budget places because they mess up the balancing and you have to pay again at the place you trust just to get it sorted out.
You might want to specify N rated too if you are bothered by this.
I use to buy at mytyres.com but I notice local firms seem to have caught up with their prices these days so it's not worth the hasstle of ordering online.
After quite a lot of web scouring I ended up using
etyres.co.uk
. For my C4S the rear Michelin Pilot Sport N3's cost £256 each.
The price included them coming out to my office and fitting them.
I also had the fronts done at the same time, they were £140 each.
How does that work then??
Just checked their site for these Michelin PS2 N3 sizes and it says £308 (+£48 more) for the rears and £168 (£+28 more) for the fronts. :nooo:
Hummm mobile tyre fitters! I'm trying hard to keep an open mind about how they would balance the wheels properly from something inside a van.
Let me know how you get on but that does seem like quite an expensive price anyway. N rated continentals sport contacts were £220 balance and fitted.
Thanks all... having looked around at the price of the Michelins vs others, now considering whether it might be better to change all four for a different brand (like the Contis) - especially considering some of the buy 1 get 1 half price offers on at the moment.
What are peoples views on wear rates of the different brands? My car is a daily driver, never tracked so I'm looking for long life more than anything.
Apols if this question has been asked before.
Cheers.
Just browsing on eBay and there seems to be some great deals to be had......especially if you are willing to accept puncture repaired tyres that have been fixed to certain BS standards. What's everyone's thoughts and real-life experiences on these? For example, I am seeing some Bridgestones 295/30/18 with 6mm of tread for less than £100, tyrewalls perfect but with a 'mushroom' style patch on the inside to fix a puncture. What are these - can anyone throw some light on these please?

If a repair is done properly they are as good as new. But very few people do them correctly. You need to look at the repair to see what it looks like
The plug through the tyre should be straight through at 90 deg. You should be able to tell if you look in side the true the inner patch( mushroom Head)
Should be flat if it has a dip in it the bung is at to much of an angle then there is inspection of the wound to make sure there was no damage to the cords or belts if they have damage this can lead to miss shaping
Then there is the correct way to apply the repair starting with cleaning the inner seal off then scrape an area just bigger than the patch then buff off any ribbing. Then clean then glue( not to much) leave for a mo to dry off solvents. With clean hands ply through mushroom. Roll it with a stitching wheel from center out let gule dry some more then apply inner liner sealer. To the repaired ( this looks like black rubber paint and re seals the inner of the tyre. That is a repair to the highest STD. E something can't remember but carried out 100s in bikes and cars. And you can run them right down to canvas doing burnouts with no problems. But as with every thing there are plenty of cowboys a good repair will set you back 50 quid with out fitting and balancing. Hope that helps
Are you serious ^^^^^ ??
If its true - that's a massive help. Thanks. Just means one has to determine who are good at doing this and who are not. I wonder if anyone knows who are the more reputable at doing this sort of repair.

It is true I am rema tip top trained !. I spent years working in the tyre industry fitting testing etc

Cant see how if it's good and that's the reason for the rema training to make a high standard of repair and you can't see a good repair from the out side . Big high street tyre fitting centres have the rema kit but who knows if they can use it. There are lots of other brands but the kit is way off the standard. Rema even make a road side repair kit for t/l tyres and it's good so good that BMW bikes use to come fitted with them as standard.
