Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Are there any companies that can carry out a full health check including an engine compression test?

When the Porsche warranty on my car could no longer be renewed I opted to go for the Hartech maintenance plan, which provides some financial protection should the engine or transmission go 'Poof' as it covers the labour component of the repair bill (should the worst happen).

Just out of interest I think OPC's offer a compression test for around £270.
Test compression & doesn't include any form of ppi

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys, love the forum. I have been a 911 owner for many years, my most recent being a 964. Over the year I have had the pleasure of owning a 2.7S, SC,3.2 and a 964. I sold my 964 last year and now an looking to re-enter the fold. Thats me.
Now I have a question. I am looking to purchase a 996.1 C2 but before doing so I was thinking of having a compression test done. In your opinion would this be advisable?
Your thoughts please?

On this basis I would think it worth doing, but I'm no technical expert. No doubt Baz and the other technical wizzards will be along soon to advise.
I've had a series of 911's, dating back to the 80's - still prefer the 996, great handling car and after 300+ miles you can get out of it still feeling relatively fresh - so interesting that you are looking at a 996.
Good luck with your searches.
Thanks for your response.
I have a passion for Porsches, Mrs G isnt too fond as i spend more time on my classics than on her. I have loved each version of the 911 I have owned and have always been a big fan of the air cooled but have grown to love the 996 shape. Also being a newer car and having all the mod con does help. The 964 did have the PAS and a decent heater but it was a bit too old for daily use, that said it only let me down once(flat battery).
Peter Morgan does an inspection but it is just an external examination of the engine looking for leaks which doesnt really help I think. My concern is the heart of the car and if it goes the cost side of things will just escallate and I dont want that to happen.
Can it be determined if an engine has slight compression issues just by looking at the engine pressure on the dash. I know where the dial should be when cold and hot.
Just out of interest I think OPC's offer a compression test for around £270. I recently enquired about this.

Good luck with the search for your 996 :thumb:
Thanks for that. I have inquired about a compression test from the local dealer and they have quoted me £230 which included picking the car up and dropping it off. All sounds good but is only a compression test. The car in question has had the relevant work carried out so I am not too worried about the gerenal health of the car but am mainly concerned about the engine being upto scratch.
Are there any companies that can carry out a full health check including an engine compression test?
