Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I tried rotating it and saving but it didn't help.
So I started the "Porsche's Love Snow - Post up your Pics" and it has been a pretty good thread... but I am cold and this rain is just non-stop...what I thought would be a nice feeling is pics of the hibernating P-Cars waking up with some spring blooms and drives - sort of a "wake-up, it's spring" picture thread....
I actually dont have any of mine in the spring, maybe you do and would like to share some to brighten this grey weather up and give hope of warmer days to come..
I dont know:
You can tell it's spring because:
The daffodils are up.
The forsythia is just starting to bloom.
The woodpile is almost gone.
The winter deer have eaten the ivy off the beech up to about 5' high, and it hasn't grown back.
The top is down!
I love the red 996 aero, THKLINGE. What a terrific photo!
Here's a recent photo of me with my 996 in the warmer weather at VIR during a Ronald McDonald House charity laps fundraiser last week.
It was a blast!
Bob
nice pics!
Thanks guys.... I was in the garage putting front bushings, torsion bars, struts and all the rest of the front end back in the car tonight... its about 35 out and occational SNOW?? yea in Seattle... completely weird.... quite cold, wet and yukky - heavy on the wet!!
those spring pics make me feel warmer
Here's a little San Diego action for ya, Ed. Pcar in the setting spring sun. Ahhhh...
I'll be back up in Seattle later this year and I'm looking forward to some rain when I get there, as sick as that may sound to you.
Going on a photo op rally this weekend, so should get more.
First autocross of the year in the new car:
If only the X74 had been available in the US! I've been in SP before, really don't want to go down that money pit (nor do I want my DD to be a race car -- been there). But removing some of that gap would sure be nice.
Autocross was in Boise Idaho.
PAX results
. First time back autocrossing in 5 years, first time with the new car, and on stock tires.
X74 isn't race gear, but I want to stay in stock class. If it had been offered as an option on US models, I could get it and stay in stock. (Also, by race gear I mean autocross, not real racing) Once I start doing mods, it never ends. I had some KW 2-way adjustables for my STi, along with a never-ending stream of stiffer replacement parts, race seats, etc. Just not where I want to go right now. Honestly if I'm going to start doing that I should have bought a GT3. Not to mention that I could barely afford the car I have -- can't buy a GT3 or lots of mods for my current car. I also don't wrench the car myself.
Just need to pop the top and..........start cleaning, waxing, conditioning, fueling, balancing, vac, dust, update 6 changer, store top, air check, update mod list, clean garage, buy some cool tools, change oil........Ok, maybe after a quick tank of fuel.
Here's to all you guys who have saved my rear so many times with your wealth of knowledge!
daam Sean, she's looking sweet enough to drive right now!!
Thanks for the pics... in the one were its in the garage it looks like you have quite a bit of Neg rear camber, is that just reflection or are you tipping em a tad more than stock
nice wheels (surely not for everyone, but really nice!)
I agree on the camber tilt. She is going to RAC/RUF next week for her spring Dr. appt. I was debating springs to lower but it will be hard to drive the school bus over the giant speed bumps at the kid's school. My 15 year old (with permit in hand) does not like the wheels either and we are in the process of moving to black w/yellow stripe.
We also just sourced a factory aero kit with bumper, side skirts and rear add on's. We will debate a wing later.
Poor quality Blackberry pic, will shoot some better ones when I get the car back from the shop. She's getting an IMS upgrade, new RMS, coil packs, spark plugs, clutch switch...etc
.
The car will be happy, but the bank account will not. But I should not complain, the peace of mind of not having to worry about the IMS (whether or not it is a legitimate worry) is probably worth it in the long run.
PM me your address and i'll mail it to you when I get the car back. Assuming the car is on it's original bearing, it would be interesting to see how 'worn' a 91k mile IMS bearing was.
Says the evil Pete!!
great shots guys!!
I got my car back from tires and alignment today, its raining SO hard I didnt even want to drive it - wierd, but its just puking rain for like 2 months non-stop... pretty depressing, these pics are helping, keep em coming!
Nice shot... wing UP on autocross, was it from speed or manual? Thats pretty fast autocrossing if from speed
Thanks for sharing...warmer weather on the way !
Nice to see autocross photos. Looks like good results as well.
I've been putting the wing up manually in my car purely for vanity. Our events here don't get nearly fast enough for it to go up automatically, though I did one weekend at a neighboring region in 2004 with 80+ peak speeds (using GPS and GPS-calibrated logger) in my car, with the top SM2 car hitting 93mph on his best run. That was an exceptional event however (not to mention unfair for low hp cars).
Pay Back Time:
for all of you who helped me thru the rain, here are some pics today after a little love on the old girl
Hope you likey - she just about to roll 170k miles....
she looks great Ed! the red seatbelts will look awesome... flowers? none here in NJ, Winter just wont let go.
BTW, whats up with your badge.... needs a new rubber boot? I may have a spare in the shed if needed.
Wing is up manually. Marginal decrease in rear lift. marginal increase in air flow to engine. But in autox every 10th counts. Besides, it looks better. =)
Ed, you have a beautiful car. I can't believe how clean your wheels are. How many coats of polish did that take? I can't imagine there is much clear coat left on that car.
LOL - I actually have not cleaned the wheels yet, late last year I used Rejex and rubbed till it disappeared 2 coats and about 3 dozen rags... have not toched them since... I will clean them eventually but the wheels have been off the car more than on the last few months so i just want to drive it right now.... once summer hits I'll give she a more serious cleaning, its not a concourse car, nor even close....just cleans up well
thanks for the compliments!
she's a besuty!
you need some silver bulbs and an amberectomy out front, and those tips....not working for me - I know you have done a lot of mods and work on her - just saying, look for better tips
What are silver bulbs? Yea .. i agree with you that the tips are weird on the bumper but i can live with it. At least it is a true dual tailpipe.
Next on the list of mods is gt3 front bumper and RS Engine mounts.
yea, better then the stock ones... I just said something because of your recent "exhaust" thread on headers - no offense
http://www.xenonmods.com/xenonmods_c...bulbs_main.htm
these bulbs (or like these) are silver when not illuminated, then are amber (or other) when lit - suble, cheap and no amber
very nice looking Mk1... nothing like a lowered porsche. If you want a dramatic looking sports car.... this is the best mod, even if you want the body to look stock. If I was to keep it stock, putting the x74 on and an alignment is the way to go.
Hey, Thanks! Put in quite alot of work to get to the state she is right now.
Shes sitting on the x74 kit. (: best mod ever. Made all the difference with the handling.
Heres a pic of her by the side, apologies for the open door.
Thanks man .. Put alot of work into my porky. The porky was not really in the desirable state when i got her. Gave her fresh paint and many new parts. Am looking to swape out the front bumper to gt3 and engine mounts soon.
Experience of a lifetime. It was quite a blast and a source of stories to last years. 7-997 GT3's, 1-996 GT3, 1-996 Turbo, 1-997 C2 Cab, 1-964 Targa.
The entire adventure was about 400 miles round trip, From Cumming, GA to deal's gap and back.
hahhaa - RE vids....
did I say "first track day of the year" - lets see, I set the camera up and somehow changed a setting to record 3 minutes.... I have 4 videos thas cover start up to the enterence to the track
packed that heavy thing around for NOTHING!!
EDIT: I found the video.... I do have some, let me chop it up a bit and I will post it later...
pretty happy
in the meantime, this was on the camera too... hahaha @ eyes in mirror....this is the drive to work - told you those seats fit !
Ed, how was that mounted, suction cup on the rear glass.... I like the 180deg view. Seats looking good.
THKlinge, thanks for the tip... I'll check it out.
Yeah, I got the same problem in my 996 with black leather interior. Especially the last time I was out, at a winter track day. The outside was mostly white with a mostly black interior. Not ideal conditions... The cam is fun though and cheap enough to dare mount on extreme positions on the car:
Or just to see what your girlfriends face looks like when she looses control and spins around:
Haven't had the time to compile the various angles into a finished video yet unfortunately.
you can be driving in a shaded road, then when you hit some sun spots.... the exposure goes bad. Def needs a quicker exposure.... but, this problem is the same with most vid cam. Does it a great job for what it is.
well as you all know I am no video expert...here is the latest... I cut out the straights, sorry about the sound, at least I figured out how to turn it down - not sure why the resolution was cut in editing? kinda pixely
anyhow....I have about another 30 minutes and in one turn I get squirrely coming up on a large smoke cloud... will try and get it trimmed down - hope this isnt too boring
I'm far north, at around 69 degrees, a good bit north of the arctic circle. It's so far north that the sun doesn't rise above the mountains from November to February. When the sun do return though the snow goes away quickly and I'm happy to report that spring is here now. The roads have been clear of snow for a couple of weeks, and many have swapped to summer tires. I'm waiting for new GT3 wheels and won't swap until they get here though. It's not all bad, to compensate for the long winter we have an awesome summer with midnight sun from May to July. My town (Troms) is the fifth largest in Norway so it's urban in every way and a nice place to live. The British publication "
Rough Guide
s" recently listed five locations on earth that you must see before you die, sort of a bucket list for travelers. Troms is one of the five locations(!!). The worlds northernmost Porsche dealership opens here in August which will make it even better
you came with your c4s?
yes i did black out the tips as well
still debating if i go tinted windows or not
will post some news pics with my dad's new 07 cayman S, right after im done with modding his car lol
here is another video showcasing my pathetic driving skills.....
that's why we practice.... right?
anyhow it's long and has music to cover up the poor camera sounds......
Nice vids Ed. Is your camera roof mounted? Have you tried mounting your camera inside the 911, that way your sound should be all motor, no wind. I think your lines are decent, and your Porsche(the front anyway)looks great. Looks like a great track. Do you use a GoPro?
Thanks Steve... in this pic you can see the camera
I have tried inside and even made a couple mounts trying to get closer to the windshiel, it become a distraction pretty fast so I am still experimenting.. anything too far back and the outside overexposes...not the most ideal camera, but cheap
I hadnt washed the car for about 2.5 months the day of the DE... I cleaned it up AFTER
There is a suction cup attatchment for the GoPro camera that might work for you Ed. Have you visited their site? Lots of good stuff, hope to get one soon for skiing, boating, and the Porsche.

If you order the " Motorsports" edition of the GoPro HD cam, a suction cup (and helmet mounts) is included. The suction cup sticks like hell! A friend of mine had it on the tank of his Ducati, in the rain, at 250kph! (155mph), it didn't fall off
Well, sorry for double posting these pictures here and on the Turbo forum, but I couldn't resist. Here are some pictures of the Red Devil, after a good cleaning yesterday.

Ivan and Fran - thanks for the nice comments. When I go someplace, I still walk backwards after parking it. Still can't believe that it's mine.
Barn996 - Yes, about that. I have cleaned out the garage, as you remember. But instead of parking the TT in there during the summer, my winter car, the Subaru is parked there. I'll put the TT in there when the weather turns to snow, etc. Right now, I would need to find some place to put the Subi if I was going to put the TT in the garage.
With the trees leafing out, there is all kinds of pollen in the air. The car gets a minor coating of pollen every night. Glad that I don't have a black car. It would force me to wash it every other day. This way, the yellow of the pollen kind of "blends" into the guards red to make it just a bit more orangie.
At least I do have a place, out of the sun, to be able to do a nice wax on the car. That's what I did before I shot these pictures. Talk about a labor of love.

Geno:
Yes, I've got to hand it to Sol. After a red Turbo he PPI'd for me failed, I was really disappointed. He told me to stop whining, and he found three other Turbo's for me to look at. One was the one that I bought. Passed the PPI with flying colors. Sol was a bit "told you so," but it's hard to complain when he found me a car like this one. Thank you Sol.
Geno - sent you a PM.

Spring in the northwest was very nice today... weather pulled off a clear day for the GTG - IDK how many cars were here but maybe 100? it spilled out into the street...
Here's one taken a few days ago...does anyone know why do these iPhone pictures keep attaching sideways??? I tried rotating it and saving but it didn't help.
OHHH my lucky day....I am pretty sure they will fit my car
(I am kidding and there are quite afew people who will get a laugh out of that)
my current car is 26 years old and had no room for such a tire
thought I would share this pic taken Wednesday ...and hope you are trying to drive the wheels right off your car rather than thinking about driving it....
note "peace sign"
