Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I believe that the control modual for the convertible top of a 1999 C2 Cab is located behind the rear seats. I am able to remove 2 Philips screws and then remove the panel from behind the back seats but I dont seem to be able to get much further. At this point I can see the 2 airbag type metal holders which would release the roll bars behind the heads of the back seat in the case of a car roll over. I need to remove the top part which has the 2 roll over insets in it so I can see the other side of the roll over cannisters. I have removed a further 2 philips screws which attach this top to the cannisters but can get no futher as the top will still not come off. Has anyone any ideas. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

The control unit is on the aft side of the rollbars in the top compartment .In order to acess the top must be partially up .You really need the service manuals .

POST 3Original post

You are trying to get at this system from the wrong side. Put the top in the "service position", which is halfway up (or halfway down). Remove the ball-end cables that hold down the back edge of the convertible top (they just unclip), and flip the back edge up. Then, remove the carpet that is behind the back seat. Just a few plastic clips to remove, then the carpet comes out. Then, you will be able to see everything, including the motors, the control unit, etc.

Hey guys thanks for all the info but I just discovered in my Essential Companion 996 Book the full procedure on how to get to the parts I need.
