The caster will be off and there's no adjustment for this -- though aftermarket suspension hardware can be fitted which allows this to be adjusted it is not the right way to adjust accident damage out of the car's steering/suspension -- so having these hardpoints brought back into spec is critical to getting the car back to its pre-collision condition.
Leading evidence: 'Install which allows this' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'only positive at this point' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean on the flatbed' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

All were found damaged and had to be replaced after the deer impact.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Now, comes the worst part....fighting with insurance to get it fixed right.
Swerved to miss an idiot pulling out, it was raining.. BAM... hit curb and a fence.
In hindsight, I should have hit the idiot.
Not good, radiator done in, wheel, fender tweaked. Hood looks OK.
Not sure about suspension.
I'm pretty bummed out. Had just done a major cleaning and wax job yesterday, looked so clean on the flatbed.
Bummer! Glad though no one was hurt.
Probably not a total. The damage not that bad. I assume though the air bags didn't go off?
But almost certainly the car will need some Celette Bench time. The shelf that runs along side the front trunk is probably bent down and this will have be repositioned so the new fender fits right. (My Turbo suffered from this from hitting a mule deer on that passenger corner.
Also, the right front suspension/steering hard points will be checked. I suspect some will be found out of position.
Be real careful this work is not scrimped on.
I would be surprised the vaper recovery system escaped undamaged. It resides under the fender. And the headlight bracketry and connector.
All were found damaged and had to be replaced after the deer impact.
If you want, if you PM me with your email address I'll send 4 or 5 or 6 pics that show the extent of the car's external and internal (under the bumper cover, fender) and you can have some kind of reference to go by when your car's in getting repaired.
Just to give you an idea of what my pics might be able to show you and how they may be able to help you, here's a pic that shows the deer hit damage:
Here's the shelf:

Macster.
Bugger, as odd as it sounds it takes a lot of skill to ensure you hit someone properly in an accident. If Im in the right, I dont swerve for anyone, unless Im on the racing track. It goes against every instinct!
Hell it knocked the front end really across there. You can see the gaps twisted out of shape everywhere. Body wise Mark, that looks like a complete front end. From the doors forward, Fenders, hood lid and bumperwise. No quick fix for certain by the looks of those photos.Dammit.
Body gaps on left side are still perfect, hood is pushsed up and over but left fender is fine. Will post the eatimate after I get it, NO quick fix for sure,
- Okay you're maintaing perspective....good for you.
- Seems your actions were first to protect others too, admirable in the first degree!
Very sorry to hear this happen to you Marc, you're a stalwart around here and I REALLY hate to watch things unfold that could change that.
Glad everyone's okay and looking forward to
THIS
DIY!!
Wow really sorry to see this Mark. Glad no one was hurt. Probably the only positive at this point. Guess you wil be out deductable which isn't the end of the world right?
Nothing some Stop Leak, a package of zip ties, and a few band aid stickers wont fix ha ha.
Sucks to see though doesn't seem like it will be to much for a competent shop to take on, are you claiming this against your insurance?
Wow, Marc. That truly sucks. And the worst part is that you are stuck with the repairs instead of the folks you avoided. That part makes ME angry, too. I know you will have it repaired first class.
Just a car ( I know. Blasphemy) and no one was hurt. If you had hit the other car and someone was injured that would be worse. Still sucks though.
Doesn't look too bad, and you still have your sense of humor. Just get it to a good shop and it will be good as new.
Sorry it happened.
Give Larry a call from Foreign Specialties for comparisons, they do excellent work (especially the paint aspect). They are in Manville (kinda far from you though) [phone removed].
Sorry to see this Marc. Ive been there myself. A good shop will be able to make it right again. Glad nobody was hurt as well.
On the bright side (if there is one) you still have the targa to drive.
That will ruin a Sunday! At least it was minor, with no one hurt. Now, comes the worst part....fighting with insurance to get it fixed right. Good Luck
That would definitely ruin your weekend!
Good luck on the repair. I just went through this process (thankfully not the p car) and it's not too fun. But in the end, mine turned out fine and I'm sure yours will too.
Who is your insurance carrier?
Geebus Marc! My dad use say "meh......paint'l cover it". Don't get too down in the dumps...that might make me be inclined to post a pic.
Glad you are ok.
It sucks to damage your car, but I wouldn't sweat it too much. Modern autobody repair technology is pretty impressive and if you take it to the right shop you'll never know it happened. My wife put her M Roadster into a Jersey barrier sideways when she got a little throttle-happy on an onramp. The car was pretty messed up and probably should have been totalled (from a cost of repair viewpoint), but they fixed it anyway. When we got the car back I had to *really* look for any evidence the car was ever repaired, and I knew exactly where to look!
In case they don't blame you, just tell them it wasn't your fault because you were asleep at the time of the accident...works every time. Besides, you can always mitigate your loss by suing the city for their placement, shape and overall construction of the curb. I bet the curb caused you to hit the fence. I'd also hire a land surveyor and sue the property owner for their (mis?)placement of the fence. Oooh, oooh, and don't forget to sue Porsche for failing to equip your car with a suspension and braking system sufficiently capable of (defying physics and) avoiding all manner of accidents. You didn't happen to have a cup of McDonalds coffee in your car at the time, did you? lol
-Eric
Bummer that it happened Mark, beautiful areo package just looked right on your Porsche. Easy for me to say all will work out insurance wise, but it will. You'll get through it and in the meantime can drive your Carrera 3.2 until it's fixed or replaced. As mentioned, the good news is that no one was hurt.
If the car was previously accident-free, you can recoup some funds on diminished value AFTER the car is finished.
then look to either driving it till "the wheels fall off" or sell it and upgrade..... just sayin.
FWIW, when my 00 Cab's accident estimate came in from the other guys insurance Co. ( GEICO), it was about $6500. After a teardown and further "supplemental claims", it ballooned
to $14K and change.
I expect the estimate to go up, As long as the repairs are good I will keep it for a while, I like this car and a minor accident is not a big deal to me.
Marc, That's the worst...
It always seems to happen right after a nice wax and polish... When I first took my 911 out this season I waxed it for about 3 hrs... Then I got tagged in the rear corner by a hit and run in a junker... I thought I got lucky because someone got the guys license plate... But then it turns out he didn't have any insurance... So I ended up being out about 3k after the whole fiasco, and I have an odd rattle now while in reverse idol...... I had a clean carfax, and my deductible was 2k so I just paid it myself and kept it off the books... The guy didnt even get arrested... Cops said there was no way to prove who was driving the car and it wasn't worth their time... That part was almost as bad as the accident...
-Any way I feel you pain... Hopefully it comes out looking as good as before... And drives fine... It doesn't
look to bad from the pics... Best of luck... you never know...
Wow...cool shot and yeah, I agree with you - keep the car so long as it looks and drives great. I've not driven a 997 yet and my car's 10 years old now but baby, I"d be pretty hard pressed to justify spending anything significant on an upgrade!
BEST of luck!!
Yup, agreed. Just want her to look pretty again and I can live with it.
Not even stressing over it, but I do miss the car.
Positive side, no stone chips!
Marc, sorry about the accident but I'm sure the job will turn out pefect and the nose will look brand new again.
I recently had my car detailed and the idiot that did it burnt the paint on the drivers door. I had to get both the door and front fender painted to blend it in.
You'll have a job in front of you to clean it and remove all memories of body shop dust, it gets everywhere in every nook and cranny on the car.
Make sure they claybar and buff out the entire car because overspray will find its way onto your existing body panels.
It's getting there, a bit more than bumper cover.
Fender, hood, bumper...etc.
I will take slow and perfect over fast any day. Shoud be about a week now.
Headlight fits look identical as do body seams and body panel gaps. I'd say you got your car repaired back to its pre-collision condition.
Congrats!
Sincerely,
Macster.
Get my car back, Have it one day, ONE DAY! and notice my water pump leaking!
At my mechainc and will be sorted Monday but man I want to drive my damn car!
