Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Use exhaust vlaves' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Inspect scavenge pumps' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Are you suggesting to change the chains that connect tge cams too?

I hope you changed the components on the opposite head..

Yes I'm changing the pads on both heads, re lapping all the valves.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Which side are these from. I have 6 brand new ones, but they are in a brand new 1-3 head for a 3.4 VarioCam engine. I am looking for $1,400 for the head, the list price is $3,152. Let me know if you are interested.
I'd also say that he needs some new pistons to go along with this.. Let me guess, they came from bank 1-3?
Dharn55, email me about that head. We need it to cut in half for across section to compare it to the earlier versions.
Passanger bank. Ordered new ones. The engine has 200K miles, the previous owner nrver changes the tensioner pads (the ones between cams) so they wore through and snapped. The chunk came from the driver side head, made its way to the other head, lodged in the cam sprocket, chain jumped a feww teeth and took out the exhaust valves on the passanger side. Happened at idle, pistons are ok. Have detailed write up with pics on the Canadian forum. Bought the car as a non runnner.
We've seen this episode quite a bit.. I hope you changed the components on the opposite head.. The 4th and 5th timing chains are simplex design and they wear heavily.. Did you inspect the scavenge pumps for damage? They suck up pieces of timing chain roller horribly.
Haven't looked at the pumps but thanks for the tip. I would have missed it. Yes I'm changing the pads on both heads, re lapping all the valves. Are you suggesting to change the chains that connect tge cams too? The chains didn't got to the metal part of the tensioner.
