I installed the X74 upper strut mounts which allows a lower height and still a solid camber (mine easily went to -0.5 at a height of 117mm).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey all, I just got my car back from VS motorsports (great place!) following a suspension refresh and as I suspected my upper mounts in the front were completely shot. The front left was (left side of the pic) has the rubber cracked essentially all the way through and the right was starting go to the same way. The rears weren't anywhere near as bad, but you could tell the center bushing was starting to delaminate from the rubber as well. After alignment the car feels great, especially steering.

POST 2Original post

Just curious, what year is your 996 and how many miles do you have on it?

POST 3Original post

Shoot, those look almost new. Take a look at the one I replaced last spring (actually replaced both sides). This was on my 2000 C4 Cab with about 65,000 miles. I had installed PSS10's two years ago and did not see the deterioration at that time. Then last winter I started getting a loud clacking.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 9753790

2002 C4S, 110K miles or so. The pictures don't show it well enough, but the rubber was cracked all the way thru.

POST 5Original post

I installed the X74 upper strut mounts which allows a lower height and still a solid camber (mine easily went to -0.5 at a height of 117mm). They are supposed to be a stiffer mount as well, though they are quite a bit more $$ than the standard mounts.
