I have checked both hoses attached to the heater core/matrix and both sides are hot as they should be, so can rule out a blockage.

Fan works just fine and I can cycle the air to all the various vents using the corresponding buttons.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi. So my 996 is having issues putting any kind of heat to the cabin. Fan works just fine and I can cycle the air to all the various vents using the corresponding buttons. Air con works fine too, recently gassed so blows nice and cold. The recirculation switch seems to be my issue as the motor is jammed so just makes a clicking noise and fails to move the flap. I have taken the pollen filter out and manually opened the flap. I have also been under the dash and manually moved the arm attached to the recirculation motor to make sure it stays in the open position. My question is, when the recirc is on an the flaps are shut does this prevent heat from getting to the cabin? I have checked both hoses attached to the heater core/matrix and both sides are hot as they should be, so can rule out a blockage. Would be great if someone could test this and report back. Best to start car and leave recirc on until engine up to temp to simulate my problem. When moving the temp to max heat the motorized arm moves as it should with ease. The only motor with an issue is the reirc. It seems almost impossible to replace as it is located on the side of the whole air box system under the dash, squashed up next to the outside wall of the passenger foot well. Has anyone ever replaced their recirc motor? Any help or advise gratefully received. Found this video of someone with recirc problem but at least theirs is moving a bit, my flap under filter doesn't move at all. You Tube
