This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Spent the money to replace the IMS bearing this week. Bearing was in perfect condition and bearing seals intact. Oh well, insurance is better NOT used in my view. Fate would have played out that the second after the minute I decide it isn't worth it to change it I'd hear a rattle and then a lot of banging going on from behind with a trail of oil... FYI: Car is a 99C2 (Tip) with 153K (km's) and the bearing was a double row. Bearing is on table in front of engine. Waiting for FedEx for new one.

POST 2Original post

I just sent my 2000 C4 Tip to my Indy for a death rattle symptom. 126 k on the clock The car puked up the tranny at 100k and had the engine out, sadly I didn't do the IMS nor the AOS and they both needed to be replaced. Who knew back in 2008.
