Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
Have you tried re-setting your throttle body (e-gas calibration?)
Leading evidence: 'Set throttle body (e-gas calibration?)' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Set throttle body (e-gas calibration?)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey Guys,
I've got a 996 C2 Tiptronic. I've had the car over year now and probably for the last 6 months I've noticed a distinct flat spot in 2nd gear(Tip defaults to 2nd gear for starts) when accelerating from a complete stop. I don't recall it being so distinct when I first acquired the car, but then again the performance was all new to me so it may be something I've noticed as I've become more comfortable with the car.
The flat spot is most notable on hard acceleration(foot to the floor) from a dead stop in second. At 2700rpm it hesitates and then seems to accelerate normally after about half a second. When I first read up about this issue I figured it was related to the MAF and I ordered a new one and changed it. Didn't seem to make any improvement. Looking for either a confirmation that this is normal behavior and is infact the variocam change over or that maybe I do have an issue.
Here is a video of a full throttle acceleration from a stop in second gear. Car is fully warmed up after 30 mins of city driving.

That is your torque converter clutch lock-up. When the clutch locks it looses a little RPM and torque and feels like a hesitation, but thats the way it was designed. Sometimes it will actually feel like it shifts another gear.
i know this is a old thread but did you manage to fix this? what was the solution if so?
Im experiencing this on my 99 tip as well with my 2nd gear. except its more in the 2k rpm range from a dead stop.
I'd like to get it fixed as soon as possible as this is my daily, how long can i drive it like this?
