It's made of the same material as the top, so I used Raggtopp on mine and it cleaned up nicely.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone know how this damn piece comes off? The canvas on mine was damaged by the PO putting the hardtop on and I can't get this piece off the car. The repair manual says two bolts (or screws) and two clips. Took the bolts/screws (I forget) out of the front behind the carpet. When I tried to pull the piece off, I broke it in half. Repaired the break and recovered it in place, but it looks sub-standard. I never did find the clips and I still can't figure out how it comes off. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

POST 2Original post

hope the link below can give you some tips. best of luck. https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...t-a-997-a.html

POST 3Original post

Great article/pictures. In addition to the screws behind the carpeted panel behind the rear seat there are 4+ screws on the back of the unit. To get at these you have to get under the carpeted tray where the top stores when down. You can lift this out by removing the four plastic push retainers along the roll bar. And to get at these you have to take the cables off at the bottom of the top. Not to hard of a job.

How much does that part cost if you don't mind?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the information, gentlemen. I'm going to give it another shot ASAP. The part is priced all over the place. I found it at Auro Atlanta for around $385.00 The one I picture is on ebay right now for less than $200.00, but it would need to be shipped from Great Britain.

POST 6Original post

A little OT but, any idea how to clean that piece? Mine is pretty nasty from too much environmental exposure. I'd hate to make it worse.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's made of the same material as the top, so I used Raggtopp on mine and it cleaned up nicely. The Raggtopp didn't remove the holes poked in it by the previous owner, however.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks again for the help, gentlemen. I felt like an idiot when I followed your instructions and realized how easy it was to remove. Now, I can recover it properly.
