I have a 2001 996 Cab Tip. Recently when I run the top up or down I get a blinking dashboard light at the end of the cycle. This is after the top is completely up and BEFORE the windows go up OR after the top is completely down and BEFORE the windows go up. I recently added fluid to the top motor (the reservoir was bone dry), but it hasn't improved anything with regard to this problem. Has anyone seen this problem? Has anyone used Durametric to diagnose one a Cab Top problem? Thanks! Chris

I had the same problem. Had to replace both hydraulic cylinders. At the indy mechanic it was $1400.00.

This probably is not the problem but make sure you have a fully charged battery before you go ripping things apart. A weak battery sends all kinds of daft singals.

I don't think its the RAMs either, I took everything apart and I didn't see any evidence of leaking. Funny you should mention power, I had a similar problem a few years ago and fixed it by replacing the battery. I did the same this time (replaced the battery) and it didn't fix the issue. I think there must be something voltage sensitive in either the controller or one of the limit sensors. I just don't know which sensor to look at.
