Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

If you don't have visible fluid leaking, I don't know of a fool proof method for checking without just taking them off.

Suggestion

If you want a set, I may be changing out mine ('03 C2 with 38K), as I just got some RS mounts from and RL'er (rock on!) and should be putting them on soon.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

How do you check them in the 996, check them to see if its time to replace them. 145K and I dont think mine have ever been done. Thanks K~

POST 2Original post

I had vibration in the passenger compartment. The old test is looking at the tailpipes for height differences, however mine had been adjusted to look even on both. If you don't have visible fluid leaking, I don't know of a fool proof method for checking without just taking them off.

POST 3Original post

Kyle: If you want a set, I may be changing out mine ('03 C2 with 38K), as I just got some RS mounts from and RL'er (rock on!) and should be putting them on soon. R\ Scott

POST 4Original post

There is a lifting boss on the bottom of the engine block where you can use a jack to *partially* lift the rear of the car. If the motor rises but the car doesn't, that can be an indicator of failed mounts.

POST 5Original post

I had visible leakage of fluid. It's probably most visible using the method TroyN referenced.

Hi Scott, If the mounts are not spoken for, I'd love to take them. I just had a mount fail and am on a serious budget. Happy to pay for postage, etc... PM me if you have a chance. Cheers, Tom Seattle

POST 7Original post

Even if they haven't failed, they are probably worn out and you are getting extra movement of the motor which affects performance in handling, acceleration, deceleration, and shifting. Mine had 50K on them and I was amazed at the improvement when I replaced them. It's a really easy DIY, and a relatively cheap upgrade.

POST 8Original post

I see you put in X73 mounts. Do you have the part number or source? I assume they fit regular 3.6 C2 as well.
