Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has anyone added an OEM Nav to a 2004 996? I have a used one I can purchase pretty reasonably. Also - does this give any additional aux inputs? I have the Bose system currently - curious if this would be plug and play?

POST 2Original post

I have the 2004 nav system, but was told that it is out of date (by a bit) and they won't be updating it anytime soon. Also, I understand that it is not plug and play with iPod as it is a different system than more modern units. I have to use old-fashioned CDs to get my playlists into the car... ha ha.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

huh - you can buy the updated data disks for the 2004 - so at least you can update GPS data? I am looking at one from a 2005 - thinking about phone integration and maybe sat radio

POST 4Original post

Aftermarket units WAY better. 2004 technology is just that. And there' s work to do on the dealer side to get the OEM nav unit integrated.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ah well - will hold off on this - I am doing the garage door opener mod using a homelink code rolling unit and figured I could do this at the same time - while I had the dash apart. I will just move the climate controls to be 'ready'. Any recs on what after market units to look at?

POST 6Original post

I have Pioneer AVIC X930BT. Absolutely love it

POST 7Original post

Hey Otto, I am looking for a OEM Nav system. If you pass on the deal, could you let me know the details? Thanks, Alin

POST 8Original post

How does one get around the radio's "security" feature? .. the one that deactivates the radio (?) because it thinks it is being stolen

Once the OEM deck is gone, so is that issue. However, my Pioneer has a password if the unit is ever removed. I had a new bezel retrofit done and almost forgot the code. I was locked out of my radio for about an hour. Thank goodness I remembered it, otherwise it would have to be shipped back to Pioneer to unlock.
