Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am planning to paint my brake calipers this winter, Ill probably have them off the car for a few weeks in total. Any suggestions on how I can seal the hoses so I dont have a pool of brake fluid on my garage floor?

POST 2Original post

Depress the brake pedal slightly to close the circuit. Use a 2x4 or similar, wrap the end with a towel, and move your seat forward to wedge it into place. I did this when rehauling my brakes off the car - worked well.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

that is the genius of this list, thanks for this. When you say slightly, 1/4-1/2 inch or more?

POST 4Original post

1/2" should suffice. I posted the same question a month or so ago and got this useful tip from member fpb111 , so the credit is due to him!

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

havent decided, red of course!, any recomendations?

POST 7Original post

I used the PORSCHE decals (3" White) from Suncoast - http://www.suncoastparts.com/product//caliperdecal.html Sandblasted the calipers down to bare aluminum, rebuilt with fresh seals, sprayed with VHT Caliper Paint (Real Red), applied the decals, then clear coated with VHT Caliper Paint Gloss Clear. They came out great! Just take your time applying the decals. I used blue painter's tape applied across the length of the caliper body as a guide. Mark the center point of the caliper on the tape and on the decal, then line up the points and apply the base of the decal along the edge of the tape. I've seen too many DIY jobs ruined by misaligned decals.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, did you mask up the calipers and piston bores to prevent damage before sandblasting?, or just leave the old pistons and seals in as you were replacing them?

POST 9Original post

I duct taped over the old rubber dust boots and pistons. You also need to plug up the 3 fluid holes with either wood dowels or M10-1.0 bolts. Then I rebuilt the calipers, masked the dust seals/pistons, and then painted.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
