4) Do I need to replace the dampers, and because i am not going OEM will these aftermarket pads need dampers to prevent squealing?

stock pads work fine for the occasional DE until you into the intermediate/advanced group...then it is better to get a separate set of racing pads, and swap them out before/after the event and use the stock pads for street driving....changing all four sets for the track takes ~30 min.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

HI everyone,
Looks like it's time to replace my brakes (rotors/pads)
I am looking at replacing the fronts with Sebro rotors with EBC yellow Stuff
And rear with Zimmerman and EBC Yellow stuff.
This is a daily driver and occasional DE.
1) Will the pads cause too much squealing?
2) will my rotors wear down too quickly becuase of the high friction pads?
3) How are the EBC Ultimax pads for my needs?
4) Do I need to replace the dampers, and because i am not going OEM will these aftermarket pads need dampers to prevent squealing?
5) How many dampers do i need for front and how many for back? And sizes.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Any reason you want to move away from stock? Every time I start to research alternatives I end up back at stock for mostly street with some track time.
Mostly becuase of cost. If I order all the parts from ECS using the above setup, compared to suncoast (OEM) setup, it's about $300 difference. And I would think the EBC yellow will be better than OEM on the track?
I have EBC reds in my car and I really don't like them very much for daily/street driving, their initial bite is really weak.
However, when driving aggressively/breaking hard they bite really well and I haven't experienced any noticeable fade when they get warm. They're pretty low dust as well.
For my vehicle I have use OEM, mine sees minimal track use and is mainly a daily driver. I find OEM is usually best if you drive it the way the manufacturer intended it to be driven. Given that OEM has "pcar tax" attached to it, usually if they cost less than OEM there is a reason for it.

Check into Akebono. I'm not sure if they make pads for 996s, but I've had them on other cars and they are an awesome daily driver pad. Low dust, good bite, the price is right and they can still handle a little track abuse.
