Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. I've taken my 996 headlights apart and installed a RetroFitLabs Bi-LED projector conversion kit to upgrade my basic halogen headlight.

Its hard to get a grasp of how the look of the car has changed with your close-in pics.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I everyone
I'm new here, and have been searching for the right place to post my latest project. I see lots of discussions on headlights, but can't really seem to be able to nail down exactly where to contribute. I've taken my 996 headlights apart and installed a RetroFitLabs Bi-LED projector conversion kit to upgrade my basic halogen headlight. I think the results came out looking very.... factory, keeping the original look of my 1999 996 Carrera.
I made an in depth YouTube video, showing everything I did from start to finish. Here are a couple of screenshots of the finished project:
The main reason for doing this upgrade was because my headlights had the 'burnt inner lens' issue, and light output at night was pathetic.
Early 996s and Boxsters suffer from this. If anyone is interested in the process they can check out the video I just posted on YouTube. You'll find it here:

If there is a better place to post this on Rennlist, please let me know, as I'm a newbie
I suppose Boxster owners might also be interested in this process, since their headlight is exactly the same as the 996. So, if anyone can tell me how to share it to their forum, I'll attempt that
Thanks in advance for any input, and thanks Rennlist for all the help you have given me in the past.
Cheers
Nice job. Could you share some wider shots of the front and front 3/4 of the car? Its hard to get a grasp of how the look of the car has changed with your close-in pics.
Hi
Sorry for the delay, I was out watching the Solar Eclipse
I looked through my photos, and I don't have exactly what you are looking for. Hopefully these will do. The car is still in storage, so can't go out and just snap some pics

Hope this helpful, and thanks for your interest
What is the heat output of these lights? My main concern is whether there will be any difference in the plastic after long periods of heating. Other than that, I am with you and would like to see a night shot for comparison.
Hi 'irontmp'
Not 100% sure what you are asking, but this upgrade was done to a 1999 996 Carrera C2. The YouTube video mentioned above will show you everything you need to know about removal and modification. Hope this answers you question
Hi
Concerning heat build up, there are cooling fans and vents built into the Projectors themselves. RetroFitLabs also list as an option, 'Vents' for the original housing. Can't say much about them, since I didn't order them. But they exist, and probably could be added afterwards if someone found it necessary. My night driving is limited to probably only a half hour at a time, and haven't noticed any heat build up...
