Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I had the front rotors and pads replaced at Porsche 2 years ago for a wopping $1150.00, never make that mistake again.

We just ran a zone 1 48 hr on track special that we will still honor.

I used Balo Coated rotors from Pelican Parts, for a fraction of the price.

I used the ceramic enhanced semi-metallic with Kevlar also on the rear.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My new to me 2004 4S Cab has 45k miles on the clock and the front (original!) brake pads are at 25% - the rotors also 'might' need to be swapped. Any recommendations for after market or should I stay OEM? I use it as a daily driver - lots of spirited driving in the canyons and will be doing a few DE days just to learn the cars limits as compared to my '84.
Just did my front brakes. Hawk pads from Amazon and Zimmermann rotors and new sensors from Vertex. I re-used the shims, but got (and then returned) a set from my mechanic just in case I needed them. A friend had a ratcheting tool for the pistons that was very handy.

Yesterday one of the techs at the Cadillac Dealership I work at repaced the front pads with ceramic enhanced semi-metallic with Kevlar Pads.
I bought Balo Coated rear rotors that I picked up at Pelican Parts for $117 for the pair including shipping, amazing. I used the ceramic enhanced semi-metallic with Kevlar also on the rear. I spent $190 for everything and gave the tech $100 for the install.
After one day of use, really quiet and dust is down by 75%. I have black wheels on the 996 and the dust from the factory pads was really bad. I had to clean the wheels every day.
Here is a link to eBay where I got the pads:

Write to the seller and tell him you want both front and rear pads. I paid an unbelievable $73.88 for pads for all 4 corners with free shipping.
FYI,
Just installed the Front New Brakes on Saturday.
Sebro (OEM Replacements) went on fine just like Factory, good thing about them is they have Wear Indicators on them.
PRB XBG Pads also went on fine, so far Braking Feels like the Factory Jurid's i had on.
Only small issue was the Sensor Holes were just a little bigger and the Sensor didnt clip on completely,
so i used some Silicone to hold it in place untill some Corrosion Forms which will hold it in place for good lols.
No a big deal at all.
URO Brake Sensors are like Factory.
All the other Hardware was "Genuine Porsche"... New Dampers, Rotor Screws, Caliper Screws and Spring Plates.
Word of advise change your Damper Plates everytime you change Pads.
Mine were not changed last time which i should have.
Plates were completly Rusted and were crumblinging like Wafers.
Because they were 8 years old and had 158km on them, the Damper Part from the Bigger Piston did not come off as i think its Rusted to the Piston and will not come out.
So i had to Unscrew the Bigger Damper off the new plate and screw it onto the Stuck one in the Piston.
This happend with Both Sides, as i think that Inside Big Damper gets the Most Water to it.
We carry Sebro slotted rotors that are making a big wave with everyone. We just ran a zone 1 48 hr on track special that we will still honor. $160 each front rotor and $320.00 for the set of rears.
These are made for us by Sebro in Germany from the same castings that Zookie used.
I used Balo Coated rotors from Pelican Parts, for a fraction of the price. Made in Germany - great fit, finish, and build quality. Balo is OEM for BMW and Audi. I am very happy with them.
In researching, I learned that a lot of Spec Boxster guys use these on their cars with good results. I paired these with Stoptech Street Performance pads.
Hey zookie, I need mine done soon too. Did you ship it to Toronto? Which shipping option did you choose from ECS, and what did duty/taxes/brokerage cost you?
Thanks,
