Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, My break wear light had been coming on and off for a bit and then came on , I went ahead and replaced all the pads and sensors on all 4 corners, But now after the new parts the light does not go out.. Is there any way to find out what corner is mad? I did find pads on two corners worn to the sensor..

POST 2Original post

take the old sensors and cut the plug off and a couple inches of wire...connect the two wires together making a loop... Take the 4 by-pass loops and dissconnect the new sensors and plug in all 4 by-pass loops...Brake warning light should now be OFF (NOTE ::: "IF" the brake warning light is not off that means your bodyywiring is faulty ...) "IF" the brake warning light is off, then reconnect the new Sensors "one at a time" to determine which wheel has the faulty/shorted Sensor...

POST 3Original post

I need to find which brand of sensors won't melt when I do a track/HPDE event. The new ones I put on last summer when I refreshed my brakes all melted at the track and had to be replaced a few months later. :-)

POST 4Original post

Any brand brake sensor will melt if you track. Most of us zip tie them out of the way..

POST 5Original post

Best to just get a set of track pads for those events if you want street pads the rest of the time.

POST 6Original post

^This. Did this in 2006. Never missed them. But if you remove them you better make sure you continuously check your brake pads and rotors.

POST 7Original post

Quotes source post: 19393886

Good to know. The ones I had when I got the car didn't melt on my first 4 HPDE events. The new ones I put in melted the first time out. Maybe I got faster or the old ones were hardened with age.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I made the suggested jumpers, got all 4 wheels up and installed them, alarm went away, slowly plugged each corner in and found I caused damage to one corner when in there doing other work. new sensor on order.

POST 9Original post

Glad you found the issue, those brake sensors are truly handy for street driven cars... The little warning sensors that are so numerous on high end cars really help the longivity of the cars..like low coolant sensor, low oil sensor, brake pad sensors, ect...many lesser models die a tragic death due to not having these warnings..

POST 10Original post

I installed new sensors and even made sure the pins inside the receptacle were slightly angled to provide good contact to the plug mating surfaces. Light still comes on when I hit a bump.
