Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
I'm at a stage in life where a weekend car makes sense
I live in the San Fracisco Bay Area and am in the market for a 02 or newer 996 coupe in very good shape w 50 to 70k. Assuming a typical build, brakes and tires at 50%, what is a reasonable price range? Kbb and edmunds don't seem to agree.
. Also wondering what the expected up charge should be for S and 4S
Thanks!
For 2002 C2 probably in the 25k to 28k range depending on condition/history/options. For a C4S I would add an additional 8k to 10k. There was no S model made in 2002, only 4S. Then add 2-3k for each newer model year 996. GL
Congrats on taking the leap! I just bought a 2002 C4 cabrio in SF Bay area in April. 20k miles and overall in great shape with lots of options. PPI indicated it needed IMS retrofit. I paid 31K. KBB was 35K. I put $3400 into it right away with RMS, IMS, and water pump, new tires and a couple little things. I'm very happy with it. Good luck in your search!

Slightly off topic-
I already brought one in for a PPI to a Euro shop in Walnut Creek. The owner seemed to know Porsche. Is there a GOTO shop in the SF East Bay?
I'll use the above for a SBay PPI
Thanks!
If you have the time, cast a wide net in your search. Get to know option codes and figure out what you want. That makes it easy to skim through online ads and not waste time on cars that don't fit your profile.
For example, I wanted a 2002-03 with relatively low mileage, full leather, bi-xenons, and PSM. And I did not want black or dark blue. But many ads are not that specific on options. I learned that the Advanced Technics package included bi-xenons and Bose. So then if i saw the Bose label on the front door speakers, i knew the car probably had the headlights i wanted. I could also just glance at an interior photo to see if a specific ad was worth investigating. After about a month I found what I was looking for in Boston.

Good luck! The search is part of the adventure.
Don't rush. Enjoy the search.
I wouldn't pay over $25k for a 2002 coupe.
For comparison I paid $38k for 2004 C4S Cab, with 37k, in Bay Area last month... and I don't think I stole it by any means.
You are looking for an older car, coupe not cab, higher mileage, not 4S so $25k TOPS in my opinion.
