Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A deer jumps out of the woods and wham !! The whole drivers side is damaged, the front fender, the door (messed up), and rear quarter panel...... Insurance tells me 500 deductible and they cover the rest..... They said I can go to a shop of my choice, or to one on their list... Need shop recommendations in the Raleigh, Cary area such that I can cross reference to their list...... Pics of damage will come up this afternoonn.... Thanks for your recommendations.

POST 2Original post

wow! definitely a bummer. which Ins. do you have? Do you really want to get it repaired and if you are indeed looking to keep the car for a very, very long time or try to sell it with accident history? Your insurance company should be able to locate a Porsche certified shop. If not, try Leith Porsche ( IIRC , in the cary , NC area for body shop recommendations) and get it done right. OTOH, I have been getting my C2 cab repaired for the last 3 months and I think if I had given it some thought ( and known that I could get a great TT so soon), I would have preferred for the Ins. to total it out and just take the $ and run.

I've been dodging them like crazy this year. Once I dodged one and he still ended up slipping on the pavement and kicked my rocker panel.

POST 4Original post

Assuming you keep the car, work with your insurance company to claim a "diminished value" payout. This gives you some compensation for the reduced resale price of the car due to its (additional) accident history. IIRC, a figure of about 10% of the repair cost is typical for such claims. Good luck!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After looking closely at the damage (with a cool head), it does not appear that bad. 1.- Fender is not dented, but scratched 2.- Door is dented, it looks like it could be "pushed out". But prefer a new door. Handle does not open from the outside. Rear view mirror is gone 3.- Rear quarter panel is much less dented than the door, any skilled body work shop should push it out without issues 4.- Scuff mark on the convertible top, but it is not ripped

POST 6Original post

not so bad. could have been ALOT worse. try calling a Pcar dealer near you for bodywork estimate. And like 02TX mentioned above, you can still request a diminished value claim. GL

POST 7Original post

You can request a diminished value payment, your insurance company won't pay one. Good Luck!!
