Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Guys, I tried the search feature but that didn't help.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Guys, I tried the search feature but that didn't help. I'm not sure what else to call it, I figured the trunk/hood would be the front so I said the rear lid (where the engine is) clicks but won't release. Any suggestions, Thanks

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry guys, I forgot to mention it's an 02' 996

POST 3Original post

There is a manual release wire under the left taillight. It is between the light assy and the top of the bumper. If you gently wedge a rubber spatula under the light assy you can see it and fish it out with a thin wire hook. If pulling that doesn't release it try presure on the lid, down and up, while you pull the wire. Maybe something got jammed?

Thanks fpb111, I've already tried the pressure up & down, even cranking the motor to see if that would help, to no avail. Now I'll try the spatula thing & see if that helps.

POST 5Original post

The spatula is just to help get access to the release cable. It is like the one for the frunk.
