The 997 shifter is a good change, not a huge one but it is appreciated.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello to all,
Beautiful sunshine here in Seattle this morning.
Skeptics say it doesn't happen very often.
I say back home in Paris I remember worse winters and as much rain...
Anyway, a great day to take some much delayed pictures of the 40th anniversary.
I have posted a few considerations on some pages here on Rennlist that address the 996 anniversary. I have decided to start a new thread to share more about my experience with the car.
So here we go with pictures and I will share more on my impressions and upgrades at a later point in time.
Let me just say this: you know how we all have a natural tendency to shed very favorable light on the choices we make and the cars we drive... I have been in many 911s and owned a few of them. The 996 40th is truly amazing. it is not a GT3, nor a turbo; it is not as modern as a 997 or as analog as a 993... it is in a unique place with its color, features and ... Performance..!
It was great when I bought it, it is stellar with the upgrades...
I am off for a drive now.
Pierre.
YO !!
nice looking ride, did you find that here? SWEET !!
let me know if you need a shop recommendation - I know the right guys for your car
Best Regards and Happy Motoring!
Pierre, I drove a 40th anniv on my way to getting my Turbo. They are very nicely optioned cars, and for the money, a fine machine. I see that you already have a cold air intake. Nice mod to start out the INSANITY!!!
For some reason, we all believe that Porsche made incomplete cars just so that we would have something to do after we bought them. Enjoy the miles and miles of smiles.
Larry
thank you guys.
I got the car at park place LTD in September last year.
Not even 25000 miles on it.
I installed a fabspeed exhaust and the cold air intake. The car complitely changed. Hard to notice when at idle but when hard on the throttle, it felt like I added 1000 rpm in the RPM range.
After a while and since I drive it everyday, I decided to take the Fabspeed mufflers off.
I have replaced them with the OEM mufflers with a bypass and the car is perfect this way.
I will sell the Fabspeed mufflers momentarily.
Take care!
P.
PS: all mods were made at Aker's on capitol hill. I really like these guys and vouch for them.
Hey Pierre,
Nice looking car. If it's not too much trouble, could you PM me with more detailed info on the mods you mentioned? I also have a 40AE and love it. I just got a clear bra put on yesterday (lots of pebbles on Texas roads), and I'm looking for the next upgrade.
Thanks!
Adrian
Hello Pierre,
Beautiful car you have here. I don't know how I missed you taking pictures of your car on E. Marginal today since I must have driven by at least twice.
I had to work today, I'm glad someone got their p-car out in the sunshine!
Hello all,
Jpowers: good catch on my location when I took the pictures!
Adrian: I have changed the steering wheel and gear **** to alcantara. I have also installed a 997 shifter. Finally I installed the Fabspeed mufflers and the Cold air Intake. The fabspeed mufflers are for sale now, the combination with the Cold Air Intake is to loud.
I really like the Alcantara steering wheel, it feels so much better. The 997 shifter is a good change, not a huge one but it is appreciated. The cold Air intake transforms the car, I would recommend it.
Now that this is all done, guess what I am going to do?!
Look at the next car of course!
I am getting a 993 turbo bug. I have started the hunt. The 996 40th anniversary will be (is) for sale... !
Pierre
Hi all,
Just wanted to post an update here.... I sold the car...
It shipped yesterday to its new owner.
Since I initially included "sharing" in the title of this thread, let me share some more:
It was very strange to see the car go yesterday, very very strange... it is just a car, right?
I have bought, enjoyed and sold several cars in the past... but when the truck left yesterday I thought: what the hell have I done!
The anniversary is a truly fantastic car.
Anyway, one thing has made the experience a positive one: The new owner.
I have invited him to show up on Rennlist and join the anniversary community.
He will be able to share his experience as well. He is a great guy. He flew to Seattle to take a look at the car and is now back at home waiting for the car to arrive.
It is going to be his first sport car! let along a 911, let along an anniversary!
I am really happy to know that he is the new owner.
He not only shares the passion, but also and more importantly the values and the trust that P-car enthusiasts share.
As for myself, I am going to do what anybody who is serious about life should do: find another 911!
Pierre.
I bought the anniversary in September 2010. Not very long ago...
What is next: well, it could be so many different things... my area of research ranges from the 993TT to the 997TT (If I sold my range Rover too), or a 993S or 4S... yet I am also perfectly capable of pulling the trigger on a nice 997 S cab for the summer... who knows!
I just fell like starting a new partnership/relationship with a car because honestly, I want to drive them all, and I only have about 35 usable years in front of me... so many cars to drive and so little time
Wow, that was quick! i know how it is to have the "bug" though, I am now seriously looking for a C4S. I thought I found a great one but it was a tad out of my budget. Good luck finding the one you're looking for.
BTW, thank you for your response to my question re the modsyou made to your (former) 40 AE.
Adrian
