Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

They recommend professional installation, but am wondering if it is a do-it yourself job.

I was going to replace the whole head unit to get ipod and be able to control it with the head unit, but this looks like a good option if it really works.

I don't think the install is any different since all you are doing is inserting the Dension unit in the fober optic loop and then setting the dip switches to tell it what config you have.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Does anyone have this unit working with the PCM? I have an 04 with the PCM cd/nav. I was going to replace the whole head unit to get ipod and be able to control it with the head unit, but this looks like a good option if it really works.

In looking into this further, I am wired for the CDC, but the car doesn't currently have one. I saw something in the install manual that this feature might have to be enabled by the dealer.
Does anyone know if this is generally true?
It is a DIY and I have posted a very detailed writeup with pics (

). As far as working with PCM you need to make sure you have the proper dip switches selected on the Dension unit so it knows what it is interfacing with.

Okay. I see what you are saying. Can it go anywhere in the loop or does it have to be between specific components?
I would assume anywhere since it is basically like computers sitting on a network.
I think it is specific if you have a CDC. If you do not, then it can go anywhere in the loop. The easiest is where I installed mine (at the amp) based on previous readings from other installs.
