Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Spark plugs was changed 8000 kms ago (though, 3 years).
Leading evidence: 'Replace spark plugs' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check codes' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Or could it be that it is time to either change spark plugs or coil packs?

When I have customers that have issues like that without any codes, I take it for a test drive and try to replicate the issue while having my Snap-On scanner connected and recording.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys,
I just got a great 996 C4S. Beautiful car in every way. However - there is an issue with it: If I floor it below 2000 RPM in 2-4th gear (which I rarely do, but still), it sometimes (but not always and rarely twice in a row) give e thorough "thump" from the engine, like if it is "missing a beat".
It has a (small) oil leak from the RMS (I think). Could it somehow be related to the issue? Or could it be that it is time to either change spark plugs or coil packs?
Best regards
Not RMS.
Are you getting a CEL?
Have you checked for codes?

It's usually pretty easy to track down the issue...IF I can get it to do it.
It could be lots of things!
Any exhaust modifications? Many of us with cat-less exhaust setups on stock tunes have a similar issue - the motor will bog or hiccup with high load under 2k rpm. The removal of back pressure from the motor without a tune is the source there. If you're all stock, then I default to Tex's method
Yes, a thump. Like if the engines misses a beat and then gives a real "oomph!" from the engine when it catches breath again.
When accelerating full throttle from low revs (12-1500 RPM) up to 2000 RPM, mostly in 4th and 5th gear, it is like the engine misfires. As if there is no fuel supply for a short instance and then suddenly, "boom".
Sometimes it FEELS like there is a small hesitation at medium throttle at around 3000 RPM as well. But this part I am not sure about.
Does it make sense?
Good point!
Actually, when cold, the problem is not there. I also thought that it might be the fuel pump, but then I guess it should be all through the rev range?
Tried to film it, but it is difficult to see on a film..
TEX submitted a very good plan.
I do have a question: why would you be in fourth or fifth gear at full throttle below 1500 rpm? The owners manual says if you drop below 1500 you should shift to a lower gear to prevent lugging the engine(paraphrased). In addition, around 3000rpm is near the variocam switchover so you may be feeling that and thinking it is a problem, but I'm spitballing on that one.
