Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My abs light is on so pulled the codes and got 4211, 4201, 4216 - 3 wheel sensor codes triggered. My indy wants to r&r the abs control module - having it rebuild. Could it be possible that 3 sensors went bad? The cruise control works and I thought it would become inoperable with an abs code. What is the best way forward from here? This is for a 2001 996.

POST 2Original post

Would be prudent (and way less expensive) to address the wheel sensors first. Do a search on this forum for "looping" the sensor wires together and zip-tie them out of the way. Clear codes and see if the ABS light stays off.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Will check this out first - strange they show a fault but the cruise control still works - thought it was to shut off when there is an abs issue?

POST 4Original post

If the brake light switch fails not the wheel speed sensors, then CC cannot be activated. Old school way of testing the sensors is unplug all 4. Then re-connect a single sensor. Start car and drive away to 10mph or faster. If the ABS light comes on, then the sensor is OK. If the abs light stays off, then sensor is bad. Disconnect this sensor, connect the next one and repeat for all sensors. Each time you test, you want only one single sensor connected.
