Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Reported cause
My non-op fan turned out to be a cooling fan resistor gone bad.

As far as the fan, I know what I need to check next, just need to make the time to do it - looks like it's going to be the resistor.

I've done some minor maintenance like air filter, oil change (with sample sent to Blackstone), added a double din head unit, and some other minor stuff.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Not a big one, but the first one since I got her. I've done some minor maintenance like air filter, oil change (with sample sent to Blackstone), added a double din head unit, and some other minor stuff. Still have an in-op driver side radiator fan to troubleshoot, but other than that have been enjoying the hell out of this 19 year old.
Congratulations always good to see another 996 going that extra mile with added mileage to it's odometer. I know some might disagree and opt to keep less miles on the odometer for better resale value, to me the added mileage is a testament of spirited driving. It shows it's not a garage queen and that the car is being enjoyed. Hope you can get your fan issue sorted out and keep enjoying the car.
Thanks. I bought it to drive, that's for sure. I stumbled upon it in a search for a lower mile, newer C4S but couldn't pass it up when I saw the condition and the price (<10k). This one is in better shape than most of all the other ones I looked at with 1/2 or even 1/4 of the mileage. Everything checked out, and figured I would DD this one while still searching for the "right" C4S. As far as the fan, I know what I need to check next, just need to make the time to do it - looks like it's going to be the resistor.
Side note - My Durametric cable seems to have the same issue as others with a 99 model. Currently have an open service ticket with them to address the known problem.
Awesome milestone! I am at 97k miles now, so I am looking forward to my 100k mile milestone. I got my car with 96k miles, but I have now addressed all the weak points of my car, so I am looking forward to racking up the miles on my car now!
I'm about to turn 132K on mine. Granted lot's of maintenance from me and a few big ticket items before I bought it have kept it on the road. My non-op fan turned out to be a cooling fan resistor gone bad. I picked one up local for about $80 and it was an easy swap. I'd say in a couple of years or so I'll be where your at in mileage too.
