Completely modernizes the lighting system and came in at a whopping 60 bucks, plus it was fun to use the OEM headlight tool!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had my passenger bulb parking light and HID go out on my recently purchased AE 996. Figured that they were probably OEM Philips 4300k and 70k miles out of them is pretty good. I decided to replace them with a set of Morimoto D2S XB (35W) HID Xenon Bulbs 5500K. I did my research and found these are a pretty good choice for someone not looking to drop $100+ per bulb. I'll update down the road, but after the initial install, these look great. 100% white 0 Blue whatsoever. I had actually hoped for a hint of blue, but it's really just pure white. A slight step up in white over the OEM 4300k, but nothing over the top. Attached are pics of the comparison. Drivers side Right OEM Philips Passenger Left 5500k Morimoto. Also upgraded to an LED parking light. This is a HUGE improvement over the OEM. No more yellow parking light. Pic for comparison again is LED on passenger side (left) OEM on drivers (right). I know looks a little blue in the photo but in real life just looks like clean white light. I highly recommend this upgrade. Completely modernizes the lighting system and came in at a whopping 60 bucks, plus it was fun to use the OEM headlight tool!

Phillips are probably one of the best ones out there but come with a price tag. This vid helped me make my decision, and yes they are better, but couldn't justify them being 3-4x the cost. The Morimoto's seem to be the best of the budget bunch. You Tube
