Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What are the hoses under the bumper on a 996 in between the radiator air scoops? (see pic) The driver side one is a yellowish clear color and the other side is black. They join together in the middle, and mine are a little worn looking. I thought I might replace them since the bumper is off at the moment, but I just can't figure out what they are. Appreciate anyone who can identify these.

POST 2Original post

Pretty sure they're just for ventilation of the headlight area. 99663164103 Breather Pipe ( DRIVER SIDE ) $18.62 99663164203 Breather Pipe ( PASSENGER SIDE ) $17.61

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think you are absolutley right, I just couldn't think of an accurate dscription to look them up. Thanks much!

POST 4Original post

Must of been used on the MK1 but not MK2? I was curious so looked at some older pics I took when doing my rad cleaning and do not have these hoses?

POST 5Original post

The mk2 has vent valves on em. I replaced mine a few years ago as they were missing.
