Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

HI All,
Just wanted to say hello. Great forum.
Just bought a year 2000 C4 manual with 100,000 on the clock.
Wasn't sure about the turbo wheels at first but they are growing on me.

I did have a 2.5 986 boxster as my first porsche many years ago.
T8E_1627_HRjpg.jpg
i did take the engine out of that and manage to put it all back together.
I'd never taken the engine out of a car before!

I also had a 986 boxster S 2002
which started life as silver when i got it but...

I wrapped it blue

Welcome, Ivan. Just guessing from the car plates...are you from Dublin or Cork? I used to live there myself and had a good bit of fun at Mondello a few times. Miss the place but not the weather!
Thanks for the Warm welcome.
@G.T., Yes Dublin city Ireland.
brought the car for 600kms run over the weekend

exhaust was blowing a bit around the headers so i am currently drilling out all the bolts and retaping to put new gaskets in.
IMG_8107.jpg
Any recommendations on exhausts?
I believe the 997 3.8 s exhaust manifolds fit and are a nice little mod for a bit more sound and power!! You can get a kit for drilling out the exhaust studs but I just can't remember who makes it at the moment, maybe someone else will chime in!! Be carefull it's easy to make a mess of those the studs are hard but the aluminium of the head is soft so if you get off line you can damage the head! Might be stormski racing?
Thanks, I'll look into that.
Drilling out the header bolts is a job i did before on the boxster.
Its a matter of small drill bits and working your way up in size and taking your time. Took me about 16 hours! over 5 days.
Now you tell me their is a kit for it.
Nice drive, the N59...been on that very road quite a few times. I used to live on that side of the country (in Carrick-on-Shannon). The loop towards Delphi, Louisburgh and then on to Westport is brilliant drive, if you haven't driven it yet. One of my favorite road pictures I took was on that drive, matter of fact:
As for exhaust recommendations, Fabspeed seems to be quite popular around here, although I'm sure you'll be able to find a good number of options online. A lot of guys here are quite helpful...am sure you'll get a few suggestions.
Best of luck!
That was the route we took at the weekend, been that way many a time.
In fact I think i cycled it in my younger days.
O2 sensor decided to give up the game to day.

The wheels are a nice, modernizing touch. I initially thought it was a 991 due to the wheels and the dark car color. We traveled your way a couple of years back and envied those with 911s and similar vehicles (from our motor coaches).
Thanks for the kind words! It is great to be a part of the community and lend a hand to fellow members
Ivan I'll shoot you over a PM, we can go over your goals and come up with a solution for you. Welcome to the forum and post up some videos of you hitting those awesome driving roads!
My wife took a position at Trinity College, so we're relocating to Dublin. Anyone in Ireland on this thread willing to give me some advice about what cars we want there, and whether I want to bring the GT4? I understand that I'd not have to pay import duties or VAT, but could the CO2 emission of the GT4 of 238 g/km really attract an annual road tax of 2,350?
Road tax is based on the engine displacement; don't bring a Viper!
You're correct about the import duties. If you've owned the car for over a year, you won't have to pay it.
Insurance is pretty dear as well. If you're there long enough, get a proper (full) Irish license. But be prepared. It isn't the joke of a process Americans get to go through here...definitely more thorough.
If you bring the GT4, definitely bring Hoosier wets!
Vehicles after 2008 are based on Co2 emissions. so the 2,000 road tax per year is correct. Hence none in this country.
MY advice would be don't bring a GT4 here you most likely will not get insurance on it and if you do it will be very expensive.
there is 23% vat and 33% import duty or VRT as we call it.
you should find the details on the revenue.ie website as I say look up VRT.
I was sure it was only European citizens could avail of not paying the tax.
From memory there are a lot of conditions and red tape to get through.
porsche club Ireland and forum maybe worth looking at

we are an active enough bunch with plenty of trips to the uk for track days and a few of our own track days here too.
Agreed on the insurance. It might be a challenge to get a reasonable quote on a GT4 without driving history there. If you're going for <= a year I'd consider mothballing it.
I still have a UK driving license from a previous stint in London, so I should be able to trade that in for a Irish license.
Not sure how insurance will address the exchange of UK for Irish, though, particularly because I never had UK insurance. We plan to be in Dublin for about ten years, so this is something I'll need to sort.
I didn't see the forum. Perhaps only members can see it? I did see a Facebook group for the club, but I don't really do FB.
Just one track in Ireland, right? Which tracks do you do in the UK, and what is the format? Are they multi-day events?
We have 2 tracks Mondello and kirkstown here.
The U.K. Site I have used is
http://www.bookatrack.com
Or it's off to Germany for The Ring and the autobahn with no speed limits and the porsche museum.
The insurance on a left hand drive car here would just not get insurance.
Might not have to. Had a friend who lived in Ireland but used his UK license the whole time he was there. Unless the cars were registered under his Irish wife, he was able to get by without having to trade up. Oddly enough, it was his brother that was actually my Irish driving instructor....the fellow who helped me get my full Irish license.
As for tracks, remember...Anglesey is just a ferry ride away, as are a bunch of other tracks in the UK. But yeah, only ones I know of are Mondello and Kirkistown, have only driven the former myself.
Don't count out the kart tracks, though. Get your kicks without getting the GT4 dirty. There are a quite a few out there (Pallas in Tynagh is flippin' brilliant!).
Most likely will not be able to trade a UK licence after brexit.
UK costs about 300 euro to 600 euro to get there by ferry.
Mondello is no great i find it very slow going. Kirkstown is much faster but smaller.
Whiteriver is also another good track.
Fuel here costing 7.50 us dollars per gallon.
My advice: ditch the wife. Keep the car and you in the US
Average speed cameras are the bane of driving in the UK, now appearing in Ireland for the first time:
Irelands first average speed enforcement system goes live at the Dublin Tunnel.
Makes no difference at all, it's 10 euro to use the tunnel during the day for cars.
It's just not worth it.
I actually thought they had that system in the tunnel for years.
