It's a 7.5 A fuse spot but that probably doesn't matter as whoever did this ran their own wire, so the rating of the factory wires won't help narrow this down.

Looks like a jumper to turn the cooling fans on that I've used on other cars.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I found these two wires in my fuse box while troubleshooting my cigarette lighter. Looks like they were wired straight into slot A8 for the rear license plate light on Canadian cars (mine is US so should have been an empty slot). I've yet to locate where they go. It's a 7.5 A fuse spot but that probably doesn't matter as whoever did this ran their own wire, so the rating of the factory wires won't help narrow this down. As far as I know my car is basically stock. What are the most common mods that people direct wire and where do they put them? I assume a radar detector is is one, but no idea where they put it. Any help solving this mystery is appreciated. Just trying to trace this down to make sure I don't have a hidden or potential future ELEctrical gremlin.

POST 2Original post

I think a radar detector is a pretty good guess. I think if you follow the wires it'll be a tip off. The p.o. of my car had the sensor for a V1 up in the center cluster where the interior lights and the switch for the sunroof are.

Thanks, I'll look there. I need to pull that cover off to reseat the switch for my sunroof. My guess is the p.o. took whatever goodies they installed and left loose wires. We will see.

808Bill, do you a cooling fan in the engine compartment? The only one there I see is th factory one, at least I think. I may pull out the fuse box tonight if I get a chance. Maybe then I can at least see which way the wires go.
