You can do it in less than 1L, I probably use 1L for a really good flush, but keep more on hand just in case.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Like the title says: How much brake fluid will I need to flush the braking system and bleed the clutch at the same time? Thanks PS: I tried the search feature and as always it was a complete failure. :/

POST 4Original post

You can do it in less than 1L, I probably use 1L for a really good flush, but keep more on hand just in case. Brake fluid is relatively cheap compared to having to stop everything and figure out where you're going to get more. I usually use the ATE blue/gold alternating and buy 1/2 case of each.

POST 5Original post

The first time I did it I used more than 1 L because I wasn't sure what I was doing (I think I used 2 L). Once you get the hang of it, 1 L should be fine. It helps if the new fluid is a different color than the old fluid so you can tell exactly when the line is flushed. Unopened brake fluid can be kept on the shelf for a few years, but once the seal is opened you don't want to keep it more than a few months because it will start absorbing moisture from the air.
