It turned out to be a plug for an optional phone cradle and it has switched 12V power.
Leading evidence: 'plug' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'plug' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check power, even' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I installed a MOST converter with an aftermarket pioneer nex unit.

I installed the PCCM clone from AliExpress/sadocom in my 2004 996TT with the PCM 2.0 with nav and everything works great except audio cuts out after 15 seconds every time.

Suggestion
I originally replaced the Porsche PCM unit with a Sony head unit, and connected to the Porsche wiring with an Active Adapter from Connects2 so that I could retain the BOSE amp.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Buying a male/male MOST patch cable on Amazon to directly connect the box to the amp fixed the problem.
Hoping someone might be able to help me figure out a problem integrating with a stock Bose amp.
My car is a 03 C4 cabrio with the PCM2 with nav system. The screen developed some problems and I wanted to upgrade it to an Android stereo. Purchased a stereo and a Porsche MOST fiber optic adapter from Amazon.
Wired everything up and the system works but it appears the Bose amp is not properly communicating with the MOST adapter. I get sound, but it's intermittent and it sounds like the Bose amp is resetting.
Tried a different adapter, does the same thing.
Checked power, even ran with an external 12V battery. Does the same thing.
Tried wiring a iPhone adapter, does the same thing.
My guess is something is interrupting the fiber optic signal.
Going back to the PCM radio, the amp works fine.
Are there any other devices connected to the MOST fiber optic ring that could possibly be causing the interrupts?
Thanks,
Bob
For anyone searching in the future.
I was correct in my assertion that something on the MOST bus was interrupting the signal. Buying a male/male MOST patch cable on Amazon to directly connect the box to the amp fixed the problem. Which bypasses anything else connected via MOST.
One other thing to note for anyone in the future wanting to install an aftermarket stereo. At the head unit the stock wiring harness does not have a switched 12V wire. There is one always-hot wire. The stock head unit is switched on/off via the MOST bus. I ended up running wires to the fuse box which was a pain to do. Unbeknownst to me there was a loose plug below the center console that I thought I forgot to plug back in. It turned out to be a plug for an optional phone cradle and it has switched 12V power. It would have been much easier to wire the stereo to that.
Stereo is still working great. I installed a cheap $200 2DIN Android unit but if I had to do it over I would have used a name-brand Android unit as its a bit clunky and slow.
Should've just used the factory cell phone plug that's located behind the center console underneath the radio. That plug offers switch and unswitched 12V.
Question for anyone that might know. I left the MOST bus connector unplugged at the stereo and also at the Bose amp. I'm having other problems with the car. None of the window switches, overhead lights, door lights, and remote door locking work. Would this be a result of leaving the fiber optic connections hanging to the MOST bus? I'm thinking that I need to get loopback adapters to get these electrical items working again. I originally thought I may have had a grounding issue somewhere or perhaps the alarm system went into transport mode.
Did you ever get the electrical issues fixed? Im currently experiencing similar issues on my 2003 turbo. I installed a MOST converter with an aftermarket pioneer nex unit. Everything works fine but audio goes out after 10 seconds.
I'm getting this same issue with audio going off after 10seconds every time. I originally replaced the Porsche PCM unit with a Sony head unit, and connected to the Porsche wiring with an Active Adapter from Connects2 so that I could retain the BOSE amp. Has anyone resolved this issue yet or can explain why this is happening PLEASE?

I tracked it down to a faulty small connector on the Porsche amp in the frunk. I permanently swapped my amp with the same type of amp in a friend's car. Since then both cars' sound systems have worked perfectly. Don't ask me why! But it worked for me
Hi all,
I installed the PCCM clone from AliExpress/sadocom in my 2004 996TT with the PCM 2.0 with nav and everything works great except audio cuts out after 15 seconds every time. If I unplug the big connector on the amp in the frunk completely and then plug it back in, the audio will stay working until I turn the stereo or the key off again (or unplug the MOST adapter), and then it goes back to only working for 15 seconds. If I unplug the fiber connector from the MOST adapter (or the amp), it will work for another 15 seconds, then shut off.
The only suggestion on this thread is to swap the amp out with another one... what was the faulty connector? I cleaned all of mine... I suppose I could try to find another of these amps on eBay or something but I'd love to have a better solution. The amp works fine with the stock head unit.
Any other ideas? Anyone else figure this problem out?
Thanks in advance,

My other idea was to relay the power to the amp, triggered by the blue amp wire from the head unit - I think that would also solve the problem, but maybe getting a fiber box that works right would be a better idea.
