Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've checked there's continuity from each pair of wires from the front to the back.
Leading evidence: 'Check there's continuity' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check there's continuity' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Also, as I've upgraded all of the speakers, the impedence has changed so this is less applicable for me.

I've got the 2 door speakers in channels 1 and 2, the sub bridges to channels 3 and 4 using just one of the pairs.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey all, I'm struggling with the Bose sub in my 996 C4S and need the help of the hivemind to solve it.
The car is a 2002 C4S, so no MOST.
The stock system (head unit, Bose frunk amp and 2nd Bose amp on top of the fue tank) are all gone but I'm retaining the existing speaker wiring.
All speakers have been replaced, including the ones in the sub
I've got 2 amps, one powering the dash and rear speakers and one powering the door and sub speakers
The dash and rear speakers work fine, no issues there.
The door speakers are wired into channels 1 and 2 of the 2nd amp and this works
The two sub pairs are wired into channels 3 and 4
The issue I'm having is that there is no sound from the sub. Everything else works. The sound is good but lacks some punch so I'd really like to get the sub working. I've checked that the sub is set up to work in 2 input channel mode (I've tried inputs 3 and 4 too so its definitely not that). I've checked there's continuity from each pair of wires from the front to the back.
Given there are 2 pairs of wires labelled "Sub" in the BOSE wiring diagram below but only 1 pair at the plug for the speakers, there must be somewhere in the car where the 2 pairs go through something and 1 pair comes out to go on to the rear. I strongly suspect this junction is what's causing my problems. However, I have no idea what this is or where it is. The wiring diagram doesn't show anything but there must be something there.
Can anyone help point me in the right direction? I really, really want to get some decent sound out of this car!
I added a 5 channel amp to my 04 C4S, which I realize it a bit different as it had the MOST system.
Have you verified that your sub speakers work? AA battery and two pieces of wire will do it....

I'll double check with the speaker popper. I'm sure I did this before when I did the original amp upgrade but its been a while.
Note to anyone looking at the
CAI instructions for the subwoofer
, they refer to the sub used in the cab, which is in the passenger footwell, not the one in the coupe which is on the rear parcel shelf. I don't know what the differences are, the wiring is different for example. Also, as I've upgraded all of the speakers, the impedence has changed so this is less applicable for me.
Fixed it. To help anyone else with the challenge I faced, here's the solution.
There are 2 pairs of twisted red/white and brown wires that feed the Bose sub. If you use a speaker popper (a 9v battery and tap the pairs of wires to the battery terminals), you'll find that both pairs feed this speakers. Weird I know. If you wire both pairs into an amp, you won't get any sound. The solution is simple, wire 1 pair into the amp in a bridged manner and boom, a working sub. I've just tidied the other wire out of the way.
You don't need to do anything else. The CAI instructions, for a cabriolet don't forget, mention wiring things in series. This is 100% not needed. I've got the 2 door speakers in channels 1 and 2, the sub bridges to channels 3 and 4 using just one of the pairs. For reference, the dash and rear speakers are wired into a separate amp. Everything works as it should, now I can enjoy my tunes in peace!
